Motherboards with AMD-756/766/768/8111 Peripheral Bus Controller (Southbridge)
Windows 2000/XP

DESCRIPTION:

This INF file removes the unresolved hardware detection (YELLOW BANG! associated 
with devices that do not have the proper driver installed) only.  Currently, there
is no driver associated with this INF file.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
********************************************************************************

Instructions on resolving "Other PCI Bridge Device" (System Management Controller) 
bang in Windows XP Operating System:
===========================================================================================

1) Right Click on "My Computer" and select "Properties"

2) Select the "Hardware Tab" and hit the "Device Manager" button

Note:  	There should be a device section named "Other devices" (big yellow question mark)
	with a device named "Other PCI Bridge Device"

3) Right click on "Other PCI Bridge Device"  
	a) double check that this is device 7, function 3 (System Management Controller)
	b) click on "Update Driver"

4) Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" 

5) Click "Next"

6) Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."

7) Click "Next"

8) Click on "Have Disk"

9) Specify location of inf file (amdpmw2k.inf)

10) An entry "AMD-8111 System Management Controller" should appear under the "Model" Section

11) Select that entry and click "Next"

12) A box will appear "The wizard has finished installing the software for
	AMD-8111 System Management Controller" and click "Finish".

13) The bang will disappear and a new device will appear in Device Manager under
    "System devices" as "AMD-8111 System Management Controller"

Instructions on resolving "Other PCI Bridge Device" (System Management Controller) bang in
Windows 2000 Operating System:
============================================================================================
 
1) Right Click on "My Computer" and select "Properties"

2) Select the "Hardware Tab" and hit the "Device Manager" button

Note:  	There should be a device section named "Other devices" (big yellow question mark)
	with a device named "Other PCI Bridge Device"

3) Right click on "Other PCI Bridge Device"  
	a) double check that this is device 7, function 3 (System Management Controller)
	b) click on the "Driver" Tab

4) Click on "Update Driver"

5) A new box will appear with heading "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard". Click on "Next".

6) Select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose
   a specific driver"

7) Click on "Next"

8) Select "System Devices" from the list and click on "Next"

9) Click on "Have Disk"

10) Specify location of inf file (amdpmw2k.inf)

11) An entry "AMD-8111 System Management Controller" should appear under the "Model" Section

12) Select that entry and click "Next"

13) A box will appear "The wizard has finished installing the software for
	AMD-8111 System Management Controller" and click "Finish".

14) The bang will disappear and a new device will appear in Device Manager under
    "System devices" as "AMD-8111 System Management Controller"

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
