DEVICE DRIVER INSTALLATION GUIDE
=============================================================================

The following example creates a boot diskette for a Banyan client workstation
that uses an LAN adapter and L100.DOS NDIS driver.

1. Copy the files L100.DOS and PROTOCOL.INI from the A:\NDIS\DOS
     subdirectory on the ConfigDisk to the subdirectory in which the VINES
     software is installed.

2. Execute the PCCONFIG utility from the workstation. This utility requires
     VINES v4.02 or later.

3. Select Network Card Setting from the Main Menu. When the list of options
      appears, select NDIS Ethernet.

      Select the PROTOCOL.INI BINDINGS= parameter, and specify L100_NIF

4. Press F10 to save and return to the Main Menu.

5. Select Login Environment Setting from the Main Menu.

6.  Press F10 to save.

7. Make the following modifications to the CONFIG.SYS file:

     device = c:\banyan\protman.dot/i:c:\banyan
     device = c:\banyan\L100.DOS

8. Make the following modifications to the PROTOCOL.INI file, located in
     the \BANYAN directory:

    [PROTOCOL MANAGER]
    Drivername = Protman$

    [L100_NIF]
    Drivername = L100$
    SLOT=1
    MEDIA_MODE = AUTODETECT
    NETADDRESS=#000000000000

    [VINES_XIF]
    Drivername = netbeui$
    Bindings = L100_NIF

    You can now use this diskett to connect your workstation to the server.

9.  Reboot your system.
