IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
=============================================================================

* This driver supports the Siemens OfficeLAN PCI 10/100 TX Fast Ethernet
   Adapters.

=============================================================================
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
=============================================================================

Hardware Requirements:

* IBM-compatible personal computer (PC), 80486 or higher with PCI bus
	supporting bus master mode.

* Siemens OfficeLAN PCI 10/100 TX Fast Ethernet Adapter for PCI bus

Software Requirements:

*  Windows NT v4.0

HARDWARE INSTALLATION GUIDE
=============================================================================

* See the User Guide for complete installation instructions.

* When installing the Siemens OfficeLAN PCI 10/100 TX Fast Ethernet Adapter in a PCI
	 computer, make sure the slot you select supports bus master operations.

* No specialized setup is necessary for motherboards with automatic
	PCI parameterization (most new PCs support it).

* For motherboards with bus master jumpers and interrupt jumpers for
   PCI slots:

   1. Using the appropriate motherboard jumper, enable bus master operations
		for the selected PCI slot.

   2. Using the appropriate motherboard jumper, select the interrupt to the
		selected PCI slot.

   3. Using your computer setup menu:

		* Enable the bus master on the PCI slot.

		* Enable I/O on the PCI slot.

		* Define the interrupt number on the PCI slot.

DEVICE DRIVER INSTALLATION GUIDE
=============================================================================

1. Boot your computer from Windows NT.

2. In the Program Manager Main window, double-click on the Control Panel
	  icon.

3.  Double-click on "Network".

	 The Network Settings dialog box appears.

4.  Select "Add Adapter".

5. When the list of available network adapters appears,
	 click on the "Have Disk" option.

6. Insert the driver disk into drive A. Type the directory
	A:\WINNT4.0 into the box on your screen and press Enter key.

7. Select the "Siemens OfficeLAN PCI 10/100 TX Fast Ethernet Adapter".

8. Click Next, then install the network protocols and services
	that you want. See your Microsoft Winsows NT user guide(s) for
	more information. When you are finished, click on Next.

9. NT will ask you to choose a connection type and a Tx Threshold type.
	The ConnectionType option lets you choose the connection type at which
	your adapter operates.

	Available modes:
		 o AUTODETECT Suggest use it. This adapter supports fully Nway
									autodetect function and also supports fully Auto
									swap, but you must load driver first. Then you can
									detect full_duplex with Nway. And you also can auto
									swap during run time form one hub to another. If hub
									has no Nway, it may take more time.

		 o TP_10                    Establish a 10BaseT (10Mbps) connection.

		 o TP_10+FulDuplex          Establish a 10BaseT Full Duplex (20Mbps) connection.

		 o TP_100                   Establish a Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) connection.
									If the adapter supports 10Mbps only, this connection
									type will work as AUTODETECT.

		 o TP_100+FulDuplex         Establish a Fast Ethernet Full Duplex (200Mbps)
									connection. If the adapter supports 10Mbps only, this
									connection type will work as AUTODETECT.

		 o BNC                      Establish a 10Base2 (10Mbps) connection.
									If the adapter does not support BNC connection type,
									this connection type will work as AUTODETECT.

	The TxThreshold lets you choose the number of bytes read from the host memory into
	the transmit FIFO before the transmission. If the frame length is less than the
	threshold value, the adapter will start to transmit after a full frame is in the FIFO.
	The performance is better, if the smaller value is chosen. But if you have compatible
	problem, the Store and Forward or the bigger value is recommended.

	Available modes:
		 o Store and Forward Disable the transmit threshold control. The adapter
									reads the whole frame from the host memory to transmit
									FIFO first, then starts to transmit.

		 o 36 Bytes Enable the dynamic transmit threshold control and
									establish transmit threshold initial value to 36 bytes.
									When the transmit FIFO is underflow too many times,
									the value will be increased dynamically.

		 o 72 Bytes Enable the dynamic transmit threshold control and
									establish transmit threshold initial value to 72 bytes.
									When the transmit FIFO is underflow too many times,
									the value will be increased dynamically.

		 o 96 Bytes Enable the dynamic transmit threshold control and
									establish transmit threshold initial value to 96 bytes.
									When the transmit FIFO is underflow too many times,
									the value will be increased dynamically.

		 o 128 Bytes Enable the dynamic transmit threshold control and
									establish transmit threshold initial value to 128 bytes.
									When the transmit FIFO is underflow too many times,
									the value will be increased dynamically.

		 o 160 Bytes Enable the dynamic transmit threshold control and
									establish transmit threshold initial value to 160 bytes.
									When the transmit FIFO is underflow too many times,
									the value will be increased dynamically.

		 o 256 Bytes Enable the dynamic transmit threshold control and
									establish transmit threshold initial value to 256 bytes.
									When the transmit FIFO is underflow too many times,
									the value will be increased dynamically.

10. NT will copy the necessary network drivers to your computer.
	Upon completion, you will see a list of installed bindings.
	You can change the bindings settings as necessary if needed.
	Click on Next, then Next again to start the NT network.

11. Enter your computer's Computer Name and choose either Workgroup
	or Domain, depending on the type of network you are setting up.
	You may change the name of Workgroup or Domain that it will
	appear in. When your are finished, click on Next, followed by
	Finish.

12. Restart your computer.
