MV1INIT.TXT Driver File Contents (Mv1init.zip)

11/25/97

The utility programs included are provided for MuTech MV-1000
Rev. C7 and earlier boards used together with either a MV-1100,
MV-1300 or MV-1350 module.

For DOS, Windows 3.x and Windows 95:

        1. change the current directory to 'DOS'
                A:>CD DOS

        2. run the installation program
                A:\DOS> install

The installation program will copy a utility program, dmv1init.exe,
to your hard disk and add a few patch commands into the AUTOEXEC.BAT
        program.

Although Windows 95 users can also use the 32-bit utility program,
wmv1init.exe, for the same purpose, MuTech suggests to use dmv1init.exe
instead, because this will allow the program to be executed at the
earlier time after the PC's power on.

    For Windows NT:

        1. from Start\Run... dialog box, enter
                A:\win32\setup

           or

        2. open a DOS window and change the current directory to 'WIN32'
                C:\Windows>A:
                A:>cd Win32
                A:Win32>setup

The installation program will copy a utility program, wmv1init.exe,
to your hard disk and add an entry into the StartUp group so that
wmv1init.exe will run each time you login.

Caution:
    1. Do not leave the PC unattended when turning on the power switch.
An unformatted or unbootable floppy in the drive will cause the
system to report an error message and waiting for human assistance.
This will prevent the installed utility program from getting
       executed at the earliest stage.

    2. If you use wmv1init.exe for Windows 95 or Windows NT, the system
may/will prompt you for the username and password before the utility
program gets executed. Therefore you should complete the login
       process as soon as possible.

    3. Under Windows NT, there is a system wide StartUp group and each user
has an individual StartUp group. If you can't install wmv1init.exe into
the system StartUp group, make sure you've install the program for each
       user of the system.

The purpose of the programs here is to initialize the MV-1000 boards at the
earliest stage of system bootup, so the MV-1000 will be in a defined state.
This procedure reduces the time period that the MV-1000 has been put in an
undefined state during the system POWER-ON. MuTech strongly recommend the
user to use them if an MV-1100, MV-1300 or MV-1350 is used together with
a MV-1000 board.
