      Install LAN Adapter Driver for Novell NetWare version 3.11 Server


    . Copy the AX88140.LAN from the diskette into the subdirectory of
      your server.

       Copy A:\NETWARE\SERVER\SRV311\AX88140.LAN C:\SRV311

       Note: C:\SRV311 if the default path of the driver installation
             program is used.

    . Copy all supplied NLM files to your server directory:

       Copy  A:\NETWARE\SERVER\SRV311\*.NLM  C:\SRV311

    . Run SERVER.EXE from your server

    . Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file

     :load install
      Select <System Option>
      Select <Edit Autoexec.NCF file>

      Modify the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF as following.
                load c:\SRV311\patchman.nlm
                load c:\SRV311\lslenh.nlm
                load c:\SRV311\msm31x.nlm
                load c:\SRV311\ethertsm.nlm
                load c:\SRV311\AX88140.LAN slot=??
                bind ipx to AX88140  net=xxxx

    . Press  <ESC> Key when done editing
      Select "YES" to save
      Select "EXIT" to leave installation

    . Reboot the Server again.  The Ethernet driver is now installed.


    . Medium parameters for AX88140.LAN

       Load AX88140.LAN NWAY
          --> Use Auto-Negociation to detect media.

       Load AX88140.LAN TP LINE_SPEED=10
          --> Assign AX88140 to work on TP HALF 10M media.

       Load AX88140.LAN TP LINE_SPEED=100
          --> Assign AX88140 to work on TP HALF 100M media.

       Load AX88140.LAN TP_FULL_DUPLEX LINE_SPEED=100
          --> Assign AX88140 to work on TP FULL 10M media.

       Load AX88140.LAN TP_FULL_DUPLEX LINE_SPEED=100
          --> Assign AX88140 to work on TP FULL 100M media.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
