Windows 95 Modem Driver Installation 

After following the directions in our Hardware Conflict Resolution 
Guide, please follow these procedures to install the driver:
 
1. Go to START, then SETTINGS then choose CONTROL PANEL.
2. In your Control Panel Window, double-click on Modems.
3. Click on "Add" button.
4. Click on box next to "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from 
   a list," to put a checkmark in the box.
5. Click on "Next >" button.
6. In the Install New Modem window, click on "Have Disk...".
7. Put the driver diskette enclosed with your modem, into the 
   diskette drive of you computer.
8. In the window under "Copy manufacturer's file from:", put the 
   drive letter for your diskette drive, followed by WIN95, then 
   click on "OK" button.
 
 Example:
 
 If diskette in A Drive:  A:\
 If diskette in B Drive:  B:\
 
 1.   Select your modem from the list, and click on "Next >".
 2.   Select the COM Port your modem is on, and click on "Next >".
 3.   Then click on "Finish" to complete your installation.
 4.   This should leave you in your Modems Properties window.  
      Just click on "Close" and your modem should be ready for use.

Windows 95 - OSR2 - Modem Driver Installation

The screen message will be as follows after Windows 95 was run. 
'New Hardware Found' "Your Modem Name Here"

1. Then on the screen the message will show "Update Device Driver Wizard" 
   click "Next" to install "Your Modem Name Here" driver. 

2. Press "Other location" then "Browse" buttons, put the driver diskette 
   into the floppy drive. Next find root directory of the diskette or     
   CD-ROM. Press "Ok" twice then "Finish" once. 
   
   Note:  The original Windows 95 (OSR2) disc is needed during setup.

3. "Wave Device " message appears then when you see the message "Update
   Device Driver Wizard " shows on the screen. Install the driver again. 
   Follow the procedures as in step 2.

4. The new modem can work right after all the configurations were set up.

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Install Guide

Install and Configure NT 4.0 Modem

1.  Choose the Start Menu.
2.  Choose Settings.
3.  Choose Control Panel
4.  Double-Click on the Modems Icon.

From the "Install New Modem" window:
5.  Put an "x" in "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list".
6.  Click on the "Next" Button.

In the next window:
7.  Click on the "Have Disk" Button.
8.  Then type the drive and path to your drivers.
9.  Example: "A:\" if in Diskette Drive A, on the root directory.
10. Click the "Ok" Button.
11. Choose, (highlight), "Name of your modem"
12. Click the "Next" Button.
13. Select the COM Port your modem is on.
14. Click the "Next" Button.

You should be presented with a screen that starts, "Your modem has 
been set up successfully." 
15. Click the "Next" Button.

You will now be presented with the "Modem Properties Screen".
You should see your modem and COM Port listed here.
16. Click on the "Close" Button, if it is correct.
If it is not correct, use the "Properties" Button to correct any errors.
Refer to your Online Windows Help or Windows Manual for assistance.

Now NT 4.0 will give you an option to configure your "Dial-Up Networking".
17. Click the "Yes" Button, to configure now, and contiue the next 
    section.
18. Click the "No" Button, if you do not want to configure "Dial-Up 
    Networking".

Configure NT 4.0 Dial-Up Networking (Example)

From the "Remote Access Setup" windows:
1. Highlight your modem.
2. Click on the "Configure" Button.
3. Set the Port usage to your needs.

Example for NT 4.0 Workstation RAS Setup:

Please understand that this Example is ONLY an example.  
It offers little-to-no security.  It is only shows a configuration that 
is simple and quick to test the function of the modem under NT 4.0 Remote 
Access Server.

Dial-out Protocols
1.  Check "NetBEUI" and "TCP/IP"

Server Settings
2.  Check "NetBEUI".
3.  Click on "Configure" for "NetBEUI" and set to "Entire Network"
4.  Check "TCP/IP".
5.  Click on "Configure" for "TCP/IP" and set to "Entire Network"

Encryption Settings
6.  Choose "Allow any authentication including clear text."
7.  Click on the "Ok" Button.

Now, back at the "Remote Access Setup" window.
8.  Click the "Continue" Button.

NT 4.0 will complete your configuration changes and ask if you would like 
to reset the system, for the changes to take effect.
9.  Click on the "Yes" Button.

After the System Resets:
10. Click on the "Start" Button.
11. Choose "Programs".
12. Choose "Administrative Tools (Common)".
13. Choose "Remote Access Admin".

From the "Remote Access Admin on \\{your system name}".
14. Choose "Users" on the menu.
15. Put a Check in the box for "Grant dialin permission to user."
16. Click on the "Grant All" Button.
17. Click on "Yes".
18. Click on "Ok".
19. Choose "Server" on menu.
20. Click on "Start Remote Access Service".

Your system name will be shown in the next window.
21. Click on the "Ok" Button.

The "Service Control" window will show "Attempting to start Remote Access 
Service on \\{your system name}"

When it is started your system will show up in the "Condition" column 
"Running".

Now you can test your RAS, by dialing into it from another system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
