This update loads BIOS version: 1.09 1-27-00

Before proceeding with the BIOS Update, use the following steps
to create a system bootable disk:

(1). Open My Computer
(2). Locate the 3 1/2 Floppy (A:) drive.
(3). Using the "Right" mouse button, click once.
(4). Using the "Left" mouse button, select FORMAT.
(5). Select "Copy System Files Only" and press START.
(6). Run this patch program to unzip the update onto this floppy.

Description:
------------
This update creates a BIOS Flash Utility Floppy for the following
Pavilion Models:

6501(D9307A-ARS), 6530(D9219A-ABA), 6535(D7458A-ABA),
6601(P1274A-ARS), 6630(D9294A-ABA), 6636(D9968A-ABA),
6638(D9986A-ABA)


Installation Method:
--------------------
1. Restart the computer with this floppy disk in the A: drive.
2. Press Y at the prompt to proceed with the installation.
3. When a message box appears indicating the Flash Memory has
   been successfully programmed, remove the disk from the A: drive
   and restart the computer.
4. During the boot process, the following message will be displayed:

     0251: System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used
     Press <F1> to Setup, <F2> to Resume

5. Press F1 to enter SETUP
6. Press F5 to reset BIOS defaults.
7. Press F10 to exit SETUP saving your changes.
8. Press ENTER to confirm the save.

3. When CMOS is bad, fix the problem about the default settings of AC'97 audio
   options. if CMOS is bad, set AC97 audio to enabled. It is compatible with 
   6530 (No audio) because if cmosWithCodec is cleared after detecting the 
   presence of audio codec, AC97 audio is disabled.

1. Boot menu setup screen: Fix the problem that the system hangs when exit 
   from setup (by the only boot menu setup screen by pushing ESC Key ) and 
   go on the POST. 
2. Keyboard LED blinking: Fix the problem that the LED (CONNECT) of the 
   Cockpit PS/2 keyboard is blinking when the power is on.

2. Legacy USB: Add Auto option in the USB Legacy Mode and default to Auto.
   The operation of Auto option is as followings.
1) If a USB keyboard OR mouse is present, the USB legacy support is enabled.
2) If a PS2 keyboard and mouse is installed and a USB keyboard and mouse are 
   not installed then the USB legacy support is disabled.
3. MFG mode: In MFG mode, Operating system is Other for DOS modem testing 
   and Reset Configuration Information to be Yes.

   used for 6530 and 6530 without depending on J1 jumper

  Midi port and Game port nodes are hidden when AC'97 audio node is disabled.
2. RTC error: When RTC error (check date and time settings) occurs, if it is 
   in MFG mode then set year to default year + 1 and ignore the error. 

3. DRAM timing: Program the DRAM timing parameter according to SPD 
   (Info. from SDRAM) information to improve the performance. Intel test lab 
   proposed this change and the same code will be used for BDD BIOS.

How To Update Drivers Manually
