NetWare Server V4.1x or above

This document contains  PCMCIA 10/100M Fast Ethernet Card installation
notes for NetWare Server V4.1X or later users.


1.0   Overview
--------------

    You must run Socket/Card services device driver and/or Enable  program
    before you invoke any Ethernet driver. For the detailed information on
    how to insatll PCMCIA driver, please refer to the User's Manual or the
    "About PCMCIA" section in README file.


2.0   Installation Notes
------------------------

    2.1   First time installation from the installation menu
    --------------------------------------------------------

        1. Proceed with the following steps:
           Start the NetWare Server.

           > CD \NWSERVER
           > SERVER

        2. Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up by typing
           : LOAD INSTALL

        3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
           -> "Select a driver."

        4. Press <Insert> key to install an unlisted driver.

        5. Please insert release driver diskette into the disk drive.

        6. Press <F3> to specify a different <PATH>. <PATH> is directory
           which includes both AX89190.LAN and AX88190.LDI

           Example: E:\PCMCIA\NETWARE\SERVER\NW41X

        7. Select "AX88190.LAN ....".

        8. Specify "Slot number". The "Slot number" usually conjugate
           with PC Card Socket Number.

        9. Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configuring the
           adapter setting.

       10. The NetWare server will be loading/binding the driver
           automatically.


    2.2   Reinstallation from the installation menu
    -----------------------------------------------

        1. Proceed with the following steps:
           Start the NetWare Server.

           > CD \NWSERVER
           > SERVER

        2. Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up by typing
           :LOAD INSTALL

        3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
           -> "Select a driver".

        4. Select "AX88190.LAN ...." in Select a driver windows.

        5. Specify "Slot number". The "Slot number" usually conjugate
           with PC Card Socket Number.

        6. Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configuring
           the adapter setting.

        7. NetWare server will be loading/binding the driver
           automatically.

    3.0  Keywords supported by PCMCIA 10/100M Fast Ethernet Card
    ------------------------------------------------------------

      AUTOSENSE         - This keyword selects twisted pair connection to
                          NWAY auto negotiate mode.

      S10               - This keyword selects twisted pair connection to
                          work in 10M half duplex mode.

      S10FD             - This keyword selects twisted pair connection to
                          work in 10M full duplex mode.

      S100              - This keyword selects twisted pair connection to
                          work in 100M half duplex mode.

      S100FD            - This keyword selects twisted pair connection to
                          work in 100M full duplex mode.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
