SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION 1.1 About this software This Driver supports the following network interface cards: * "RoamAbout 802.11 DS" * "RoamAbout 802.11 DS (Enterasys)" 1.2 Files Installed The following files will be installed in the Windows designated directory: NDIS 4 Miniport driver for Windows NT4 version 7.86 WLRBT52.SYS OEMSETUP.INF WCRBT52.EXE WARBT52.DLL WNRBT52.CPL WNRBT.HLP WNRBT.CNT ------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Operating System This Driver is for the Microsoft Windows NT4 Operating System. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. NEW IN THIS RELEASE 3.1 Version 7.86 SR02-2.3 3.2 Version 7.82 SR02-2 * Wake On LAN (WOL) functionality has been added to the drivers for the PCI adapter. To be able to work with WOL following settings must be applied (XP): 1. Advanced Power management ON 2. Wake On Lan ON 3. Allow this device to wake up the computer ON WOL reacts on so-called magic packets only. * Improved firmware version 8.72 for station and AP is embedded in the driver. 3.3 Version 7.62 SR02-1 * For each OS a multi-brand INF file is generated. As the name suggests, a multi-brand INF file contains the card characteristics of various brands. Multi-brand must not be confused with Combined, the latter representing the card characteristics on various OS’es for one brand. * Various inconveniences w.r.t. Japanese help files and screen texts have been resolved * Stability issues have been resolved for the Control Panel Applet * Firmware 8.42 is used in the driver. - Initial value for CurrentTXRate is 11 Mbps i.s.o. 2 Mbps. - Led behaviour has been modified: Power led off: radio disabled Power led continuously on: radio enabled Power led flickers every 100 ms: radio enabled and power management ON Activity led off radio disabled Activity led flickers once per 10s: radio enabled but no network found Activity led flickers every 100 ms: radio enabled and Rx/Tx activity 3.4 Version 7.42 Winter 2002 * Added support for - 802.1x authentication - Ultra high density - Promiscuous mode - PCI Adapter Card * Extended functionality of Control Panel Applet The Control Panel Applet has been extended such that it supports multiple cards to be configured in a single system. * Agere-ization has been performed, involving replacement of Lucent-related texts to Agere equivalent. 3.5 Version 7.08 Fall 2001 * Correct problem: Control Panel Applet does not accept hexadecimal coded encryption keys. 3.6 Version 7.06 Summer 2001 * Added Firmware as part of the driver. * Changed ControlPanel to Wizard style * Added Enhanged PowerManagement 3.7 Version 6.28 Winter 2001 * Added functionality for enabling/disabling radio from the Client Manager * Putting 'ANY' in a peer-to-peer profile gives a apropriate warning. * Profiles can now be selected through the keyboard. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. INSTALLATION NOTES 4.1 Standard Installation Please refer to the 'Getting Started Guide' or 'User's Guide' that came with your product. During installation, after giving driver path and NT files path, the network installation will ask the user to reboot the system. This only appears to be a problem when a clean install of the OS is done and network components are installed for the first time. You can resolve this error by answering NO to the first question to reboot the system after installing the driver files. Only reboot the system after the Network Install Wizard has Finished. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS 5.1 Compatibility with Station Functions Firmware on the Card. This version of the driver requires the Station Functions firmware on the Card to be version 6.04 or higher. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KNOWN ISSUES 6.1 "RoamAbout" Add/Edit profile does not appear upon installation The "RoamAbout" driver requires Windows NT Service Pack 4 or higher. In case you are running SP3 or lower, your Windows NT system does not provide the Windows system DLLs required to make the Add/Edit profile window work. You can resolve this error by either: * Installing Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 4 or higher (SP 6 is recommended), * (Re-)installing the latest Client Manager. * Run the patch 50comupd.exe provided on the RoamAbout Disk. 6.2 I/O Port conflicts under MS-Windows NT4. When your "RoamAbout" Card's installation completed successfully, but it does not become operational, you are advised to try a different I/O Port value. 6.3 IRQ conflicts under MS-Windows NT4. When your "RoamAbout" Card's installation completed successfully, but it does not become operational, you are advised to try a different IRQ value. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
