PRE-INSTALLATION

     You should setup and diagnose the Instant-Link adapter(s) by
     applying NDCONF3 before you install and/or run the NOS or
     network applications.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

   I. Installing the ND5300 driver for Windows NT [tm]
   -------------------------------------------------------

   1. Open the Windows NT [tm] Networks Control Program Applet (NCPA)
      from inside the Window Control Panel.

   2. Click [Add_Adapter]

   3. Select [<Other> Requires disk from the manufacturer]
      in the Add Network Adapter box

   4. Insert the "NDC Setup diskette" in the floppy drive

   5. Select your option
             [NDC ND5300 (PnP)]
      from the Select OEM Option box

   6. Modify the default distribution path in the Windows NT [tm]
      Setup box to point to the floppy drive if your floppy
      drive is not drive A: then click [Continue]

   7. For ND5300 options, a Dialog box pops up to select the:

      EtherID : If multiple ND5300 adapters are used in system,
                you must input it.

   8. Upon completion, one of the following adapters
             [ [n]NDC ND5300 (PnP) ]
      appears in the Installed Adapter Cards list of the
      Network Setting box (n is the adapter number).

   9. Click [Close] to complete the Network Setting
      initialization.

   10. To use the mini-port driver(ND5300.SYS) on WINDOWS NT 3.1,
       you must replace the original NDIS.SYS file with the NDIS.SYS
       file included in this directory.

        For example:

                > cd c:\winnt\system32\drivers
                > copy a:\winnt31\ndis.sys

            or

                > cd c:\winnt\system32\drivers
                > rename ndis.sys ndis.bak
                > copy a:\winnt31\ndis.sys

   11. Shutdown and reboot the system


   II. Installing multiple PnP boards
   -----------------------------------

      Repeat the procedure described in the previous paragraph.

NDIS Miniport Driver for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

PRE-INSTALLATION

     You should setup and diagnose the Instant-Link adapter(s) by
     applying NDCONF3 before you install and/or run the NOS or
     network applications.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

    1. Insert the adapter into an empty ISA slot and bring up Windows NT 4.0.

    2. Go to Control Panel in My Computer.  Double click the Network icon.

    3. Click the "Add" button in the Network box.

    4. Click the "Have disk" button in the Network Adapter box.

    5. Insert the ND5300 diskette into the floppy drive and enter
       the path:

             A:\WINNT40.

       Click "OK."

    6. The screen will show "NDC ND5300 (PnP)". Click "OK."

    7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    8. Reboot the computer to allow the settings to take effect.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
