NDC ND5300 Plug and Play Ethernet Adapter
ARTISOFT LANtastic/AI 4.1 Installation
=================================================

PRE-INSTALLATION

     You should setup and diagnose the Instant-Link adapter(s) by
     applying NDCONF3 before you install and/or run the NOS or
     network applications.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1)   Run the LANtastic installation program.

          A:install

2)   Select "Novell NE2000 16-bit ISA bus or Compatible" for
     "Network Adapter Installed:" in the installation menu.

3)   Follow the instructions guided, by the Installation program, to
     finish the installation process.

4)   Copy the ND5300 driver from the "NDC Setup diskette" to
     the Lantastic directory.

          C:> COPY A:\LANTASTI\4.X\ND5300X.EXE C:\LANTASTI


5)   Edit "STARTNET.BAT" (usually in C:\LANTASTI).
       change,

          "NEX000 IRQ=3 IOBASE=300 16-BIT VERBOSE"

       to,
          "ND5300X"


     This completes the installation of LANtastic/AI 4.1.

PRE-INSTALLATION

     You should setup and diagnose the Instant-Link adapter(s) by
     applying NDCONF3 before you install and/or run the NOS or
     network applications.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1)   Run the LANtastic Installation program.

          A:install

2)   Select the "Other LANtastic Compatible Adapter" from the
     Installation menu.

          Note: If you select "Support Novell NetWare", you neither
          have to nor have a chance to select a driver for your adapter
          in this step.  In this condition, you have to skip step 5
          and continue with step 6.

3)   Follow the instructions guided, by the Installation program, to
     finish the installation process.

4)   Copy the ND5300 driver from the "NDC Setup diskette" to
     the LANtastic directory. (usually C:\LANTASTI).

          C:> COPY A:\LANTASTI\4.X\ND5300X.EXE C:\LANTASTI


5)   Edit "STARTNET.BAT" (usually in C:\LANTASTI).
     To add the following line before the AILANBIO command.

          "ND5300X"

6)   Edit the "STARTNET.BAT" in the LANtastic directory (usually in
     C:\LANTASTI).

     - Replace:

            :
          LOADHI LSL
          NRODI
            :

     with:

            :
          LOADHI LSL
          ND5300X
            :

7)   Edit the "NET.CFG" in the LANtastic directory (usually in
     C:\LANTASTI).

     - Replace:

                 :
          LINK DRIVER NRODI
               FRAME ETHERNET_802.3
               FRAME ETHERNET_802.2
               FRAME ETHERNET_II
               FRAME ETHERNET_SNAP
                 :

     with:

                 :
          LINK DRIVER ND5300
               FRAME ETHERNET_802.3
               FRAME ETHERNET_II
                 :

     This completes the installation of LANtastic 6.0 with "Support
     Novell NetWare".

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

• Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

• If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

• Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

• Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

• Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

• From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

• Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
