(1) ND4300 DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 98 INSTALLATION
    =========================================

Procedure for installing adapter on full version of Win98

A.)
    1. Plug NDC ND4300 Ethernet PCI adapter into one
       of the Master PCI slots of your PCI platform.

    2. Turn power on then boot from Windows 98.

    3. Windows 98 will prompt "Realtek RTL8029 Ethernet Adapter and Compatibles"  
       in "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialogue box, click "Next>" buttom.

    4. Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now"
       from "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialogue box, then click "Next>" button.

    5. Choose "Specify a location" option in "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialogue box, and type
       A:\win98 in this column,then click "Next>" button.    
    
    6. Select "The updated driver [Recommanded] NDC ND4300 PCI Ethernet Adapter",
       then click "Next>" button.

    7. There's one message about "windows driver file search for the device" and
       "location of driver" appears. The device name is shown as "NDC ND4300 PCI Ethernet
       Adapter" and the driver is located at "A:\WIN98\NETRTP.INF".
       If correct, click "Next>" button.    

    8. Insert your driver diskette in floppy disk.

    9. Enter the driver path, i.e. A:\WIN98, then click "OK" button from "Copying Files..." 
       dialogue box.

   10. Insert the Win98 CD into your CD-ROM.

   11. Enter the path of resource files needed by installation, i.e. D:\WIN98,
       then click "OK" button from "Copying Files..." dialogue box.

   12. Finally, NDC ND4300 PCI Ethernet Adapter is displayed in
       "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialogue box, then click "Finish" buttom.

   13. Reboot your PC.


B.)
    If your adapter has been plugged into your PC before you install full version of Win98,
    you will not be prompted to install driver while the installation of Win98 is processing.
    Because this card can be recognized as "Realtek RTL8029 Ethernet Adapter and Compatibles",
    It also works fine, but you have alternative of upgrading driver.
    Please follow steps listed below:

    1. Enter "Control Panel"--->"System"--->"Device Manager", expands the item of "Network adapters",
       double click "Realtek RTL8029 Ethernet Adapter and Compatibles".

    2. Choose "Driver" in the "Realtek RTL8029 Ethernet Adapter and Compatibles" dialogue box, and then
       click "Update Driver..." button.
    
    3. A "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialogue box appears, it indicates that this wizard searches
       for updated drivers for Realtek RTL8029 Ethernet Adapter and Compatibles. Click "Next>" button.

    4. Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now" from "Update
       Device Driver Wizard" dialogue box, then click "Next>" button.

    5. Choose "Specify a location" option in "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialogue box, and type
       A:\win98 in this column,then click "Next>" button.
    
    6. Select "The updated driver [Recommanded] NDC ND4300 PCI Ethernet Adapter",
       then click "Next>" button.

Procedure for installing adapter on upgrade version of Win98

A.)
    If you install this card on Win98 for the first time and no matter what version of Win95 your Win98 is upgraded from, 
    Please refer to procedure A for installing adapter on full version of Win98.


B.)
    If you've installed this card on any previous version of Win95, it still works fine
    after Win95 is upgarded to Win98. Of course, you can also upgrade this card's driver to
    Win98 version one. If you want it,  Please refer to procedure B for installing adapter
    on full version of Win98



(2) Adding a Windows 98 machine to an existing network
    ==================================================

    By default Windows 98 only installs the TCP/IP protocol.
If you want a Windows 98 machine to connect to a network without
a DHCP server, you should manually modify the TCP/IP settings of
all machines on the network. If you don't understand TCP/IP, you
have another choice. That is, follow the instruction below to
modify the network settings only on the newly added Windows 98
machine:


   1. Click Start/Settings/Control Panel. Double-click
      the Network icon to open the Network dialog box.

   2. On the configuration tab, highlight
      TCP/IP - > NDC ND4300 PCI Ethernet Adapter
      and then click the Remove button to unbind the
      TCP/IP protocol from the LAN adapter.

   3. Click the Add button. select Protocol and click
      Add button. Select Microsoft in the left pane,
      select NetBEUI in the right. Click OK to install
      the NetBEUI protocol.

   4. On being returned to the Network dialog box you
      should see the NetBEUI protocol has been added
      to the list in the network component pane.
      From the Primary Network Login dropdown list
      choose Client for Microsoft Networks. Click OK.

   5. Restart Windows 98.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
