     ReadMe.txt (this file)

To make an Installation Diskette, copy the following 3 files to
a formatted 3-1/2 inch floppy diskette.

     QntmDLT.cat

INSTALLING THE DRIVER:

     1. Shutdown Windows if it is running and power down the system.

     2. Connect the DLT tape drive to the system. Ensure that the
SCSI bus is terminated correctly and that there are no target
ID conflicts. Power on the tape drive.

     3. Startup the system and log into Windows.

     4. Right-click on the "My Computer" Icon and select "Manage".
This will bring up the Computer Management applet.

     5. In Computer Management, double-click "Device Manager".
A list of device subsystems will be displayed in the right view.

     6. The target tape drive may be found in either the "Tape drives"
or "Other devices" section. Expand the section where the
target drive is located. Right-click the target drive and
         select "Properties".

NOTE: It may be necessary to troubleshoot the SCSI bus to which
the target tape drive is attached if Windows does not list the
drive in the "Tape drives" or "Other devices" sections.
Any such problems must be fixed before continuing.

     7. In the Properties window, verify that the SCSI ID matches
that of the target tape drive that you are installing.

     8. Select the "Driver" tab and then select "Update Driver...".
This will start the "Upgrade Device Driver" Wizard.

     9. In the Device Wizard, select "Next".

     10. Select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so
that I can choose a specific driver" radio button.

     11. Select "Next".

     12. If the drive is unknown to the system, the next view is
"Hardware Type". Otherwise, the "Select a Device Driver"
         view is displayed.

         a. In the "Hardware Type" view, select either "Other devices"
or "Tape drives". Then select "Have Disk..." on the next
            view.

         b. In the "Select a Device Driver" view, click "Have Disk...".

     13. Insert the Installation Diskette into the floppy drive.
Make sure that the path name to the drive is correct.

     14. Click "OK".

     15. Highlight the listed DLTtape tape driver and then click
         "Next".

     16. The "Start Device Driver Installation" view is displayed.

     17. Click "Next" to install the driver.

          a. Should the Wizard indicate that the driver already exists on
the system and prompts you for a selection, select "New".

          b. The Windows 2000 Setup window is displayed. Verify the
correct path to the driver, then select "Continue".

     18. The next view is "Completing the Upgrade Driver Wizard". Click
"Finish". You may be prompted to reboot your system.
