Flash instructions for Fusion-MPT 2x320-R HBA.txt Driver File Contents (Fusion-MPT_IME_FW10327_BIOS_51003_FLASH_10304.zip)

************************************IMPORTANT**************************

1. This firmware is intended for use on LSI2x320-R Host Bus Adapters
which have Integrated RAID capability. Choose either Integrated
Mirroring Enhanced (IME) or Integrated Striping (IS).
Check your card model Number by looking at the Host Bus Adapter (HBA).
If your HBA model number ends with -R, you can safely use this
firmware.

2. Do not flash LSI2x320 (non-R) HBA's with this striping or
mirroring firmware as it will not add the integrated functionality
to your card, and may harm your HBA. Instead, use Initiator/Target
(IT) BIOS and Firmware for LSI2x320 (non-R) HBA.

3. LSI2x320-IS cards should not use this firmware. These HBA's are
manufactured specifically for third party vendors and require vendor
specific firmware; contact your vendor for appropriate firmare for
these cards.
**********************************************************************

The steps to flash an LSI2x320-R HBA are:

1. Download the current Integrated Mirroring (IME) or Integrated
Striping (IS) version of Fusion-MPT BIOS and firmware. Using Winzip
or other compatible software extract the files onto a blank floppy
diskette.

2. Create a DOS bootable diskette. This can be a basic DOS boot disk
without a config.sys or autoexec.bat, or if you have a Windows 98 Boot
disk, you can boot useing this boot diskette and bypass the config.sys
and autoexec.bat files by holding down the left shift key during boot.

Refer to your Operating System documentation for specific instructions
on creating a DOS compatible boot diskette.

Boot disk images are also available from www.bootdisk.com
(not affiliated with LSI Logic).

3. Reboot the system, and boot from the bootable floppy.
At the A:\ prompt, remove the boot diskette and insert the diskette
with the extracted LSI Logic rom and firmware image files.

4. At the A:> prompt, type

'flsh1030 /b:mptpsime.rom' For Integrated mirroring.
-OR-
'flsh1030 /b:mptpsis.rom' For Integrated Striping.

Press enter. The flash utility will flash the HBA's BIOS.

5. At the A:> prompt, type

'flsh1030 /f:ie_1030.fw' For IME (mirroring) firmware
-OR-
'flsh1030 /f:is_1030.fw' For IS (striping) firmware

Press enter. The flash utility will flash the HBA's firmware.

For the LSI53C1030T or 53C1020A use either ie_1030T.fw or is_1030T.fw.

Notes:
*** The flsh1030 executable file can flash both BIOS and fw concurrently
by putting both switches on the command line.
'flsh1030 /b:mptpsime.rom /f:ie_1030.fw'
-OR-
'flsh1030 /b:mptpsis.rom /f:is_1030.fw'
Learn more about the flash utility in the Flash 1030.txt file in
this zip package.

***LSI Logic recommends backing up the current version of BIOS and
Firmware to file before updating the HBA. The diskette created with the
new image files should have adequate space for these files.

*** The BIOS .rom image and the Firmware .fw image names may change from
the examples given in steps 4 and 5 above. Before starting the flash
utility make a note of the file names for both images.
