***** How to use the SMK touch panel driver for Windows 2000 *****

1.Introduction

This floppy disk contains the following files:

 READMEUS.TXT : Description of this disk (what you are reading now)
 TTAB2K.CAT   : Security catalog file
 TTAB2K.INF   : Set-up information file for the touch panel driver
 TTAB2K.SYS   : System file for the touch panel driver
 TABCAL2K.EXE : Coordinate correction program for the touch panel driver
 TTABAPI.DLL  : API library of touch panels
 TTABBEEP.EXE : Beep sound control module
 TTABCPL.CPL  : Control panel application
 TTABCTRL.EXE : Function expansion module
 TTABHOOK.DLL : Keyboard hook module
 TTABUI.EXE   : Application for deletion of the driver module
 TTABHLPJ.PUH : Pop-up help file (in Japanese)
 TTABHLPE.PUH : Pop-up help file (in English)


2.How to install the touch panel driver

Use the following procedure to install the touch panel driver.

When a touch panel is connected after the system has been started,
installation must start from step 1), and if a system is started with a touch
panel previously connected (built in), start installation from step 4).

1) Open the Windows control panel and activate the "Add/Remove Hardware".

2) When the "Welcome to the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears,
   click the "Next>" button.

3) In the "Choose a Hardware Task" dialog box, select the "Add/Troubleshoot
   a device" radio button and then click the "Next>" button.

4) The plug-and-play function will detect "SMK PnP TABLET". When the "Found
   New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears, click the "Next>" button.

5) In the "Install Hardware Device Drivers" dialog box, select the "Search for
   a suitable driver for my device (recommended)" radio button and then click
   the "Next>" button.

6) Check the box for "Floppy disk drives", insert this floppy disk and click
   the "Next>" button.

7) In the "Driver Files Search Results" dialog box, when retrieval of the
   driver file is completed, click the "Next>" button.

8) When the "Digital Signature Not Found" dialog box appears, click the "Yes"
   button.

9) When the "Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears,
   click the "Finish" button.

10) Execute the TABCAL2K.EXE to work the touch panel driver.
    Note: Touch panel does not work until TABCAL2K.EXE is executed.
          See the following section about usage of TABCAL2K.EXE.

11) TABCAL2K.EXE enable to operate the touch panel.


3.Usage of TABCAL2K.EXE

1) Execute the TABCAL2K.EXE.
   You can execute the program as follows.

    a) Input "TABCAL2K.EXE" from the dialog box of "Run", then click "OK"
       button.

    b) Execute from Control Panel as follows.
        * Open the Windows control panel and activate "Touch Panel".
        * Select the "Calibration" tab and click the "Execute" button.

2) Following the display message, you push the four corners of Tablet in 
   order of left-upper, right-upper, left-bottom, right-bottom.

3) After finishing the above operation, you can use the Tablet.


4.How to update the touch panel driver

Use the following procedure to update the touch panel driver.

1) Open the Windows control panel and activate "System".

2) Select the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager..." button.

3) When the Device Manager is activated, expand "Mice and other pointing
   devices".
   Double-click "SMK PnP Tablet" to activate "SMK PnP Tablet Properties".

4) Select the "Driver" tab and click the "Update Driver..." button.

5) When the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box appears, click the
   "Next>" button.

6) In the "Install Hardware Device Drivers" dialog box, select the "Display
   a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific
   driver" radio button, and then click the "Next>" button.

7) In the "Select a Device Driver" dialog box, click the "Have Disk..." button.

8) When the "Install From Disk" dialog box appears, insert this floppy disk and
   click the "OK" button. This should take place under the condition when 
   'floppy disc drive' is shown in the combo-box of "Copy manufacturer's files
   from:".

9) When the "Select a Device Driver" dialog box returns, click the "Next>"
   button.

10) In the "Start Device Driver Installation" dialog box, click the "Next>"
    button.

11) When the "Digital Signature Not Found" dialog box appears, click the "Yes"
    button.

12) If subsequently the "Install From Disk" dialog box appears, click the "OK"
    button.

13) When the "Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box appears,
    click the "Finish" button.

14) When the "System Settings Change" message box appears, click the "Yes"
    button to restart the system.


5.How to uninstall the touch panel driver

Use the following procedure to uninstall the touch panel driver.

1) Open the Windows control panel and activate "Add/Remove Hardware".

2) When the "Welcome to the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears,
   click the "Next>" button.

3) In the "Choose a Hardware Task" dialog box, select the "Uninstall/Unplug
   a device" radio button and click "Next>" button.

4) In the "Choose a Removal Task" dialog box, select the "Uninstall a device"
   radio button and click "Next>" button.

5) In the "Installed Devices on Your Computer" dialog box, select
   "SMK PnP Tablet" and click the "Next>" button.

6) In the "Uninstall a Device" dialog box, select the "Yes, I want to uninstall
   this device" radio button and click the "Next>" button.

7) In the "Completing the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the
   "Finish" button.

8) Following "Start" and then "Run...", enter TTABUI.EXE and click the OK
   button.

9) When the "Delete all of the Touch Panel modules. Are you sure?" message box
   appears, click the "Yes" button.

10) When the "Touch Panel modules are deleted successfully." message box
    appears, click the "OK" button.

11) At this stage, 'TTABUI.EXE' has not yet been deleted.
    Deletion of this module will take place when the system is restarted.
