     How to insure that the right and up-to-date HP monitor list is loaded 
     into Windows 95 and Windows 98?

     Method :
     ********
     - remove (devalidate) the default HP list : 
	* put a ";" before the HP name in the [Manufacturer] section of
	  MONITOR3.INF 
	  (located in WINDOWS\INF directory, note that this is a "hidden directory")
	  ex.	[Manufacturer]
		;%HP%=HP

     - copy the HPMON_XX.INF file into WINDOWS\INF directory
     - go into DISPLAY Properties, SETTINGS submenu and click on Change
       display type
     - click on the Change button in the Monitor-type box
     - Windows 9x will now integrate this list in the Driver Information 
       Database
     - check the "show all devices" box and select "Hewlett-Packard" in the 
       "manufacturers" window.
     - an updated list will show on the right-hand "Models" window

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
