Windows 98 Modem Drivers Systems ======= Acer systems with one of the following DS numbers: DS.AB638.L06 The Windows 98 modem drivers for the system above is provided below. These are the same drivers that are found on the system's Acer Recovery and Diagnostics CD in the D:\HARDWARE\MODEM directory (where D: is the CD-ROM drive letter). There is no need to download these drivers unless you wish to reload the drivers and have misplaced your CD. Obtaining the Aspire Modem Drivers ================================== 1. Double-click the My Computer icon and browse to where you saved the ASP72V90.EXE file. 2. Double-click on the ASP72V90.EXE file. A new window will open and the contents of the file will be decompressed. 3. Click on the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the window that says "Finished -ASP72V90" to close it. 4. Locate the the "INSTALL.BAT" file and double-click on it. A new window will open and the files will be copied to the proper place on the hard drive. 5. Click on the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the window that says "Finished -INSTALL" to close it. 6. Follow the uninstall and install procedures below to complete the installation. Modem Installation Procedure ============================ 1. Click on Start and then Settings. 2. Select Control Panel and then Modems. 3. Click on Add and then select Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list. 4. Click on Next and then Have Disk. 5. Place the Acer Recovery and Diagnostics CD in the drive and enter D:\HARDWARE\MODEM or enter C:\HARDWARE\MODEM if you downloaded the driver. 6. Select the corresponding manufacturer and model, and click Next. Modem Manufacturer Model ============ ===== Acer Acer 56K DataFax PCI Modem 7. Select Communications Port (COM2) as the port location and click on Next. 8. Click on Finish to complete the process.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
