Network Drivers Installation Notes

                 WINDOWS 95 AND NOVELL NETWARE

This document describes how to configure the 3C562 card for
use with Windows 95 and Novell NetWare. These procedures are
also described in the EtherLink III LAN+Modem PC Card User
Guide, Chapter 4, Setup for Windows 95.

NOTE: The following instructions assume that you have not
installed any other network adapter in the machine. If you
have been using a network connection on your computer,
some of the following instructions may not apply or may
produce different results. Refer to your MIS department
or system manager for further instructions.

Before installing the network driver, you should know the
following:

      - Name of your Novell file server
      - Your network account user name and password (supplied
by your MIS department or network manager)

Also, for a successful installation, you will need:

      - Windows 95 system installation files (either on hard
        disk, floppy diskettes, or CD)
      - 3C562 LAN+Modem card and the accompanying EtherDisk
        diskette

SETTING UP THE LAN+MODEM CARD:

1. Turn on the computer and start Windows 95.

2. Insert the 3C562 Card in the system.

If you see an "unknown device" message, go to the section
    below titled "Installing Networking."

3. From the Control Panel, double click the PCMCIA icon. This
opens the PC Card (PCMCIA) Wizard.

At this point, the card wizard may ask whether you are
using a PC Card to install windows. This question
typically has to do with whether you are using an external
CD-Rom or floppy drive connected to the computer through
a PC card. For this installation, the question probably
    does not apply. Click NEXT.

4. The system asks if you are using Real Mode Drivers and
whether to remove them. Select NO and click NEXT.

5. Click FINISH. At the shutdown prompt, click YES to shut down
the system. When shutdown is complete, restart the computer.

INSTALLING NETWORKING

1. When Windows 95 restarts, it will display a New Hardware
Found dialog box and identify the 3Com Corporation-3C562
card. Since the driver for the LAN+Modem card is not
included with Windows 95, select: "Driver from disk
provided by Hardware manufacturer" and click OK.

2. This opens the Install From Disk dialog box. Indicate the
floppy drive you will be using, insert the EtherDisk, and
    click OK.

3. When the system prompts for Location Information, enter the
requested location information and click OK.

4. When the system prompts for Computer Name and Group
Name, type the names as supplied by your MIS department
or system manager and click OK.

NOTE: The computer name and the workgroup name apply to
Microsoft Networking, which is installed by default.

5. As the system copies files, it may ask for additional diskettes.
When finished, it prompts whether to restart. Remove the
    EtherDisk and click YES.

6. When the system restarts, it prompts for your user name and
password for Microsoft Networking. Enter your NOVELL name
and password. (Windows 95 will synchronize the names and
passwords between both networks.) Click OK. When
prompted to verify your password, retype it and click OK.

7. You should now be able to see the Network Neighborhood
icon on your desktop. Double-click the icon to access the
    network.

NOTE: The Windows 95 NetWare client here was designed to
operate with non-NDS NetWare networks (i.e. Bindary
services). You will not be able to access NDS specific
resources on NDS-based networks. Novell has released
it's own NDS client for Windows 95. You may want to
contact your MIS department or system manager for
      more details.
