Windows for Workgroups 3.11 and Novell 3.XX or Novell 4 Clients

Windows for Workgroups and Novell Netware supports ODI 
specification drivers.

If using Novell Netware 3.11 the following Diskette is
provided with the Novell package WSGEN

If using Novell Netware 3.12 the following Diskettes are 
provided WSDOS-1; WSDRV-1; WSDRV-2; WSWIN-1

These diskettes have also been loaded on our Preloaded Novell 
Netware v3.12 File Servers in a directory

SYS:PUBLIC\CLIENT\DOSWIN

NETWARE CLIENT INSTALL

To install Network Support for a Elonex computer using WFW 3.11 
and Novell Netware 3.12.

NOTE: This is based upon a new Windows 3.11 configuration with 
no network support installed.

Either with the WSDOS-1 diskette in the A: drive or in the above 
directory type INSTALL at which the Netware Client Install Menu 
will appear.

Step 1 = The location where the support files are to be installed
	 Select as Necessary (Default=C:\NWCLIENT) 
	 *IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT INSTALL ON THE NOVELL SERVER

Step 2 = Select YES This puts statements in your Config.sys and 
	 Autoexec.bat files to activate drivers 

Step 3 = Install Windows Support: NO  Only install for Microsoft
	 Windows 3.1 DO NOT INSTALL with Windows for Workgroups. 
	 (Default Installation Directory=C:\WINDOWS)

Step 4 = Select the Network Card? Insert WSDRV_2 This will display a
	 list of Network Cards (SELECT THE CARD AS NEEDED).
	 Then select the parameters of your Ethernet Card
	 IRQ ? (5) PORT ? (320) FRAME ? (ETHERNET_802.3)

Step 5 = ACCEPT ALL ENTRIES AS ABOVE AND INSTALL DRIVERS
	 This creates the directory NWCLIENT, installs all the drivers.
	 Creates a NET.CFG configured for your network card, creates
	 file called STARTNET.BAT and edits Config.sys
	 and Autoexec.bat to put in following lines.

ADDITIONAL NETWORK CARD INFORMATION
-----------------------------------
If when selecting a Network card using Step 4 which is not in the list
provided by the Novell Installation, just select a NE2000 card, select
the setup options as required and continue to Step 5, after the drivers
have been installed edit the two above files with a text editor and 
where the entries for NE2000 are present replace with the name of your 
ODI driver supplied.

** Important Note **
-------------------- 
NETX may be used instead of VLM, If you replace this line, 
it will also be necessary to remove the LASTDRIVE=Z statement 
in your Config.sys file.

and Novell 3.XX or 4

Select Windows Directory   C:\WINDOWS
  Type:  WIN <Enter>
		Select NETWORK Icon
			Select NETWORK SETUP
				Select NETWORKS

Select INSTALL MICROSOFT WINDOWS NETWORK
	Install support for additional networks
		Select OTHER

** If Using Novell Netware using ODI DRIVERS and NETX.EXE
		Select NOVELL NETWARE (WORKSTATION SHELL 3.XX)

** If Using Novell Netware using ODI DRIVERS and VLM.EXE
		Select NOVELL NETWARE (WORKSTATION SHELL 4.XX)

Select SHARING (Select As Necessary)

	Select ACCESS TO FILES - To give access to your local drive
	Select PRINT TO PRINTERS- To give access to a printer connected
				  to your station

Select DRIVERS

	Select ADD ADAPTER
		Select CARD   E.g. Novell/Anthem NE2000
			Select SETUP
				Select DRIVER TYPE      
					CHANGE TO ODI Driver
				Select OK

Driver should now show Novell/Anthem NE2000 (ODI/NDIS3)
		
	Highlight MICROSOFT NETBEUI
				Select SET AS DEFAULT PROTOCOL
			Select CANCEL
		Select OK

The unit will now ask for the location of the Netware
Windows driver to be loaded.

DRIVERS is greyed out (NOT AVAILABLE)

Select OK

The unit will now ask for the location of the Netware
Windows driver to be loaded.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
