This directory contains an ASPI device driver for the Toshiba CD-ROM drive, XM3301B, XM3301BC and XM3401B for use with Adaptec SCSI controllers. TOSHIBA does NOT provide the drivers for Adaptec controllers. These must be provided by your controller supplier. Installation Step 1 - Install your Adaptec controller according to the instructions provided with your controller. You must install the ASPI driver for the controller. Connect your Toshiba CD-ROM to the Adaptec controller. Toshiba cannot provide any details of this procedure. If in doubt contact your controller supplier. Step 2 - Install the CD-ROM driver by starting the Setup programme in this directory. The install utility will copy the CD-ROM driver and MSCDEX.EXE files to the \DEV and \BIN directories. Step 3 - Reboot your machine Your system should now work with the Toshiba CD-ROM drive. Toshiba provide the Adaptec ASPI driver FREE OF CHARGE, but without technical support. If you wish to use KODAK PHOTO CD's you will need additional application software. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
