Outline PnP ISA Enable Driver is being provided by Microsoft for WindowsNT4.0 and OPL3-SA driver corresponds to PnP ISA Enable Driver 2. Installation of PnP ISA Enable Driver In WindowsNT4.0 CD-ROM, there are two files which are named PNPISA.SYS and PNPISA.INF in DRVLIB\PNPISA\i386 directory. Right clicking on PNPISA.INF and choosing *install* will install PnP ISA Enabler. After restart, PnP ISA Enabler functions will be available. This install process is also explained in DRVLIB\AUDIO\SBPNP\README.TXT. 3. Handling and functions of PnP ISA Enable Driver PnP ISA Enabler detects PnP device which connected to ISA bus at boot and displays a dialog. (Example) There are four selections in the dialog as below. a. Windows NT default driver b. Driver from disk provider by hardware manufacture c. Do not install a driver(Windows NT will not prompt you again) d. Select from a list of alternate drivers Select one of these four and choose OK. Note: If Cancel is selected, no driver will be installed and the device will be detected again during reboot. a.Windows NT default driver This selection is available when a device which corresponds to PnP ISA Enabler was installed. Choosing this selection uses pre-installed driver, and no additional drivers are required. b. Driver from disk provider by hardware manufacture This selection is provided to install a new driver for PnP ISA Enabler and will require an installation disk. c. Do not install a driver(Windows NT will not prompt you again) Choose this selection when no drivers are required. If this option is selected, the device will not be detected next time. To enable the device to be detected, do the following steps: 1. enable PNPISA.SYS 2. shut down (power down) 3. remove sound board 4. start Windows NT 5. shut down (power down) 6. set sound board 7. start Windows NT Not: The following option is used when the driver does not correspond tp PnP ISA Enabler, or a Legacy form driver has already been installed. d. Select from a list of alternate drivers This selection is used to install a driver using information of a driver which corresponds to PnP ISA Enabler on the system. If this option is selected, a dialog box appears to select a hardware type: There are two options in the dialog. * Show compatible devices This option is displayed by default and lists drivers which correspond to the detected device. * Show all devices Choose this option when appropriate drivers are not detected and dispalyed in the above option. 4. Installation options for OPL3-SA series driver. In WindowsNT4.0, there are two installation methods: Control Panel and PnP ISA function. In WindowsNT3.51, Control Panel is the only option. 5. Installing OPL3-SA series driver using PnP ISA function a. Install PnP ISA Enabler. b. Set OPL3-SA series board which corresponds to PnP and restart. A New Hardware Found dialog box will appear prompting the user to select a driver installation option for the OPL3-SAx Sound Board. c. Choose *Driver from disk provider by hardware manufacture* from above dialog and click OK. d. Point to the directory which contains the driver and click OK. e. A *Select Device* dialog box will appear. Select the desired language and click OK. f. Following above steps, GamePort of OPL3-SA series or Reserved Device will be detected. In either case, choose *Do not install a driver (Windows NT will not prompt you again)* and click OK. g. Internal IDE CD-ROM will be detected after all of OPL3-SA series devices are detected. Choose *Do not install a driver(Windows NT will not prompt you again)* and click OK. 6.
