------------------------------------------------------------------------ Installing your STAR MICRONICS Printer User Setup Utility ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Insert the disk that contains the User Setup Utility into one of your computer's disk drives. This explanation assumes you are using the A: drive, but you could use any drive. Just remember to change the 'A:' drive name specifications in the following steps to name of the drive you are using. Note that you cannot use a your mouse to navigate inside the User Setup Utility installation screen. Instead, you must use the arrow, Enter, Backspace, and Delete keys as noted on the installation screens and in the following procedures. 2. Execute the command that installs the User Setup Utility. For example, you would first log onto your drive with in this instance "A:<RETURN>" then enter the program name "SETUP<RETURN>". Type A: and press <Enter> Type SETUP and press <Enter> 3. Select the language you want to use by using arrow key, and then press Enter. 4. Select the drive and directory name where you would like the User Setup Utility to be installed to. The default is C:\STAR. 5. After the installation, the User Setup Utility will start up automatically. 6. To run the Setup Utility in the future change to the directory where you installed the program and type STARSET and press <Enter>. The default location for the Setup Utility is C:\STAR ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Installing your STAR MICRONICS Printer Driver In Windows 3.1/3.11 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Insert the disk that contains the printer driver into one of your computer's disk drives. 2. In the Windows Program Manager, choose <Run> from File menu. 3. If the disk in your A: drive, type 'A:\INSTALL', and select the <OK> button. If the disk in a different drive, type 'Drive Name:\INSTALL' and then select the <OK> button. Example - if the disk is in the B: drive, type 'B:\INSTALL', and then select the <OK> button. You can also accomplish the same result by clicking on Browse... and selecting the drive where the driver floppy is loaded. Next you should select INSTALL.EXE and click on <OK> button. 4. Click on the language that you want to use and then click on <Install> button to start the installation. 5. Click the name of your printer in the list that appears on the display to highlight it. 6. Click on <Install> button, and Control Panel window appears. And the message from computer 'Installation is complete! ', click on <OK> button. 7. Double-click on the <Printers> icon in the Control Panel window. 8. The <Printers> dialog box will appear. The Star printer that you selected is now listed in the <Installed Printers> list. 9. Select the <Set As Default Printer> box. 10. Click on <Close> to clear the Printers window. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Installing TrueType Fonts in Windows 3.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. In the Main group, choose the <Control Panel> icon. 2. In Control Panel choose the <Fonts> icon. The Fonts dialog box appears. 3. Click the <Add> button. The Add Fonts dialog box appears. 4. Put the TrueType disk in the disk drive. 5. Select the appropriate drive (Drives list box) for the fonts on the TrueType disk. The fonts appear in the List of Fonts box. Note that "TrueType" follows the font name. 6. Select the fonts you want to add. To select all the fonts, click the <Select All> button. 7. Click <OK>. The Fonts dialog box appears. When installation is complete, the fonts appear in the Installed Fonts list box. 8. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
