Installing the Software This section describes how to install the CD-ROM device driver into your computer. Drive A denotes the floppy disk and drive C denotes the hard disk. Before installing the software, be sure to make a backup copy of the original by means of the DOS "DISKCOPY" command. Use the back-up copy for the installment and properly save the original. To install the device driver, follow the procedures below: 1. Turn on the power supply. 2. MS-DOS prompt appears. 3. Insert the install disk into drive A. 4. Move the drive by typing "A:" and pressing "Enter." Type "A: \INSTALL" and press "Enter." Installation Program Installation Program detects the CD-ROM drive connection port automatically. If not, installation will be aborted. After detecting the connection port, you should install the software according to the following messages. To abort installation is press the "Ctrl" and "C" simultaneously at '->' prompt. 1. Starting installation. [Y/N] -> After typing either "Y"(start) or "N"(abort) , press "Enter". 2. Installation to drive C: . [OK:Enter] -> Press "Enter" when the drive will not be changed. Type your drive name and press "Enter" when the software should be installed to another drive. 3. The directory for installation is C:\TAKAYA . [OK:Enter] ->C:\ Press "Enter" when the directory will not be changed. Type your directory name and press "Enter" when the software should be installed to another directory. 4. MSCDEX is found . If MSCDEX.EXE is not found, the following message will be appeared. MSCDEX.EXE is not found. [Please input the drive and directory name] -> Type the path name where MSCDEX exists, and press "Enter". 5. Installing the Device driver ... 6. Installation completed. To enable installation remove the floppy disk and reset. Installation has been completed. If installation has been completed, PC should be reset (Ctrl, Alt and Del key should be pressed simultaneously) in order to be available for CD-ROM drive. If installation failed, the device driver will not be installed. Reexecuting the installation program makes CD-ROM drive available. Form: Both CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT must have the same "Device_name." (CONFIG.SYS) DEVICE={Drive:\path\}TA16XCD.SYS / D:Device_name options are the following. /P:***,?? "***" indicates the IDE port address, "??" indicates IRQ number. The IDE port address is separated from IRQ by ','. The IDE port address is expressed in 3 hexadecimal figures. IRQ is expressed in 2 decimal figures. Set Value: IDE port :1F0(Primary), 170(Secondary) IRQ :9,10,11,14,15 /V: Denote the VERBOSE mode driver. The default value is ON. LASTDRIVE=Last_letter (E to Z) This "Last_letter" shows the largest number of the drives possible to access; When using four or more logical drives, indicate the last drive. (AUTOEXEC. BAT) {Drive: \path\}MSCDEX /D:Device_name options are the following. /M: x Upon installment, the "x" determines the allotted sector buffer for MSCDEX. /L: x "x" represents the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive. /E Makes the MSCDEX use the expanded memory (when possible). /V During installation, this operates the VERBOSE mode, which indicates information regarding memory use. /S In order to share the CD-ROM drive at the MS-NET base server, MSCDEX modifies the MS-DOS. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
