Flash update instructions for the AcceleRAID 170 Software Kit v5.10-00 April 19, 2002 The included flash files are for the Mylex AcceleRAID 170 controller ONLY. Because of a size change, Firmware from Software Kit 3.03 or before cannot be directly flashed to this current Firmware version. Specifically, you must currently have firmware version 6.00-07 or later. Included in this CD are intermediate firmware files so that you can update the flash in a 2 step process. The 'step' filename for the AcceleRAID 160, 170 or 352 is FLPSTEP.000. This file is in the same directory as the flash files. So, for instance, to upgrade an AcceleRAID 170 that has Firmware 6.00-0-06: 1) Use EzAssist to flash KBA70000.000 (bootblock), FBASTEP.000 (intermediate firmware) and EZ30007.img (Ezassist). 2) Reboot 3) Use the new Ezassist to flash FBA70100.000 (final firmware) and either BBA60100.030 (bios) or BBA62100.030 from the flash directory. NOTE: The diagnostics file is optional and will have no effect on the controller performance whether flashed or not. Files: BLP60100.030 BIOS Version 6.01-30 DLP12400.IMG Diagnostics 1.24-00 (for maintenance use only) EZ300007.IMG RAID EzAssist 3.00-07 FLP70100.000 Firmware 7.01-00 FLPSTEP.000 Intermediate firmware for 2-step update KLP70002.000 Bootblock 7.00-02 BBS_BIOS directory: BLP62100.030 BIOS 6.21-30 (with BBS BIOS support) The BIOS version in the BBS_BIOS directory is for systems which support the BBS Boot specification, which redefines how boot devices are enumerated and selected for boot order. Although use of this bios version should be transparent to the user, you may discover that your controller is no longer bootable. Should this happen, you will need to reflash the controller bios with the non-BBS version of the bios. If you have questions please call (800) 633-4545, or email mylexsup@lsil.com.
