Raven CD-Note PCMCIA CD-ROM player Windows 95 Plug & Play driver installation: i) If no CD-Note drivers have been installed proceed to SECTION 1: ii) If the CD-Note drivers were installed or you are not sure, proceed to SECTION 2: SECTION 1: 1. Boot Windows 95 (with PCMCIA card not inserted). 2. Insert PC-CARD into PCMCIA slot and ensure CD-NOTE is connected and on. 3. Windows 95 will detect the new PC-CARD (if the card is not detected proceed to SECTION 2) and a setup window will appear with the following options: Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer. Do not install a driver (Windows will not prompt you again). Select from a list of alternate drivers. 4. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer." 5. Insert setup diskette in drive A and select OK. 6. Windows 95 will now install the miniport driver and register the CD-Note information with the Plug & Play system. 7. The CD-ROM drive ICON will now be available in the "My Computer" window. SECTION 2: 1. Start Windows 95 with the CD-Note connected and powered on. 2. Click "Start" then "Settings" then "Control panel" then double click "System" and select the "Device manager" tab. 3. If a CD-ROM Controller is present highlight the device under it and click the remove button. 4. If a SCSI controller is present highlight the device under it and click the remove button. 5. With a text editor such as WordPad please add the letters REM and a space in front the following lines in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files. Not all lines listed will be present and there may be slight differences depending on the computers configuration. example: REM DEVICE=C:\CDRM\KMECD.SYS /D:PCMCIACD config.sys: DEVICE=C:\CDRM\KMECD.SYS /D:PCMCIACD DEVICE=C:\CDRM\ASPIMNGR.SYS DEVICE=C:\CDRM\ASPIDBK.SYS DEVICE=C:\CDRM\ASPI365.SYS autoexec.bat: C:\CDRM\MSCDEX.EXE /D:PCMCIAD 6. Use explorer to delete the CDRM directory and its contents 7. The original drivers should have been eliminated now. Please go to SECTION 1 to install the new Windows 95 driver. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
