GENERAL INFORMATION ------------------- The two 3.5 inch high-density TokenDisk diskettes provide installation utilities, diagnostics, and drivers. All the TokenDisk files are also contained on the TokenLink Velocity CD. You can find all the TokenDisk diskette #1 files in the \DISK_1 directory on the TokenLink Velocity CD. You can find all the TokenDisk diskette #2 files in the \DISK_2 directory on the TokenLink Velocity CD. The TokenLink Velocity CD also contains Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) versions of the following user guides: - Quick Guide for the TokenLink Velocity XL PCI 3C359B NIC - TokenLink Velocity XL PCI Network Interface Card User Guide You can find the PDF versions of the quick guide and user guide in the \GUIDES directory on the TokenLink Velocity CD. To view the PDF files, Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed in your PC. TOKENDISK DISKETTE #1 --------------------- Diskette #1 contains the following programs and drivers: - COMSlink (TM): 3Com's automatic installation software that automatically installs all necessary NetWare DOS ODI client software, including drivers. - Install: 3Com's menu-driven utility for installing NetWare drivers and online documentation for installing non-NetWare drivers. - 3PCID.EXE: 3Com's configuration and diagnostic program for the 3C359/3C359B TokenLink Velocity XL PCI NIC. - NDIS 5.0 Drivers: Drivers and setup files for Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows 98. - Microcode: MAC (Media Access Control) layer microcode file required by some 3C359 drivers. TOKENDISK DISKETTE #2 --------------------- Diskette #2 contains the following files and drivers: - NetWare drivers: Drivers and support files for NetWare 3.1x, 4.x and 5.0 servers, Client 32, 16-bit DOS ODI, and OS/2 ODI. - NDIS 2.01 Drivers: DOS and OS/2 NDIS 2.01 drivers are provided in a directory structure that allows importing them into IBM LAN Server, Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, or Microsoft LAN Manager environments. Instructions for installing drivers in other environments (e.g. Banyan VINES) are supplied in ASCII text files on TokenDisk diskette #1. - NDIS 3.0 Drivers: Drivers and setup files for Microsoft Windows NT 3.51. - NDIS 4.0 Drivers: Drivers and setup files for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, Windows 95 OSR2. - Microcode: MAC (Media Access Control) layer microcode file required by some 3C359 drivers. 3Com Configuration and Diagnostic Program Runs in DOS Mode Only --------------------------------------------------------------- If you are running Windows 95, please exit to DOS mode before running the 3Com Configuration and Diagnostic program. If you are running Windows NT, boot from the DOS partition or boot from a DOS diskette. KNOWN LIMITATIONS ----------------- The following limitations have been observed. The problems are under investigation and fixes are being pursued. 1. When rebooting Windows 95 after installing two 3C359/3C359B NICs, the second NIC may not activate. To activate the second NIC, simply reboot Windows 95 again. 2. When installing the 3C359/3C359B with Windows NT or Windows 98 on the Compaq Professional Workstation 5000 or Tulip Vision Line TR 6/smp, do not enable 3Com Class of Service. If Class of Service is enabled on these systems, the NIC will fail to start. RELEASE NOTES ------------- Make sure you have the latest BIOS version for your computer. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
