Beschrijving van deze versie
============================
De software van Matrox PowerDesk bestaat uit een beeldschermstuurprogramma
en beeldschermvoorzieningen. Met deze software kunt u alle voordelen van uw
Matrox grafische hardware volledig benutten en gebruik maken van extra
Matrox-functies voor beeldschermen.
Installatie
===========
Als u Matrox PowerDesk wilt installeren, start u het bijgeleverde
installatieprogramma en volgt u de instructies op het beeldscherm op.
Het installatieprogramma installeert de software alleen als u een Matrox
grafische kaart-model op uw computer hebt geïnstalleerd die wordt
ondersteund door het installatieprogramma.

Opmerkingen, problemen en beperkingen

- Ondersteuning voor DirectDraw, Direct3D en DirectVideo
Het DirectDraw-stuurprogramma dat wij leveren is compatibel met DirectX 2
(en nieuwer) en bevat ondersteuning voor Direct3D. Om ons
DirectDraw/Direct3D-stuurprogramma uit te voeren en voordeel te trekken uit
de hardware-acceleratie, MOET Microsoft DirectX 2 (of nieuwer) geïnstalleerd
zijn, zelfs bij programma's die oorspronkelijk voor DirectX 1 gemaakt
werden.
Als er geen recente versie van DirectX is geïnstalleerd, zijn bepaalde
Matrox PowerDesk-functies niet beschikbaar.
Wij leveren DirectX op de Matrox CD-ROM. De nieuwste DirectX kan van de
Microsoft website gehaald worden en is ook bijgesloten met veel
DirectX programma's.
BELANGRIJK: Als het DirectX setupprogramma u vraagt om de bestaande
beeldschermstuurprogramma's te vervangen, klik op "Nee". Anders zal het
setup-programma stuurprogramma's installeren die niet zo geoptimaliseerd z
ijn als de Matrox-stuurprogramma's en die de PowerDesk software niet
ondersteunen.
Afhankelijk van de herkomst van uw Microsoft DirectX software, kan het
mogelijk zijn dat het geen DirectVideo-ondersteuning bevat. Om sneller
terugspelen van Indeo en Cinepak AVI-bestanden te verkrijgen, moet u
Microsoft DirectVideo-ondersteuning installeren.
- Matrox bus mastering
Dit stuurprogramma ondersteunt bus mastering. Bus mastering is een optie
waarmee uitbreidingskaarten en de CVE van uw computer tegelijkertijd taken
kunnen uitvoeren. Als u een snelle Pentium-computer heeft (sneller dan
166 MHz), worden de meeste programma's beter weergegeven met bus mastering.
Als u bus mastering wilt gebruiken voor 3D-programma's (DirectX), heeft uw
videokaart een interrupt request (IRQ) nodig. De meeste computers wijzen
automatisch een IRQ toe aan videokaarten, maar niet allemaal. Wanneer aan
de videokaart geen IRQ is toegewezen, werken programma's die Matrox bus
mastering gebruiken, niet goed. Raadpleeg de handleiding van Matrox of uw
computer voor meer informatie.
- DirectDraw en Automatic Power Management
Zoals beschreven in de "Microsoft DirectX Release Notes" van
30 September 1995, kan een DirectDraw-spel mogelijk niet in staat zijn om
op de juiste manier te herstellen, als het door Automatic Power
Management-hulpprogramma's in de Slaapmodus (Standby) gesteld werd.
- Installatie in anderstalige versies van Windows
Indien u software in een andere taal installeert dan de taal van uw
besturingssysteem (bijv. Engelstalige software in een Nederlands systeem)
zult u mogeljk problemen ondervinden met tekstkaders en dialoogvensters
waarvan delen kunnen ontbreken. Dit is een gevolg van de verschillen in de
systeemlettertypen.

- OpenGL support
Note the following limitations related to the OpenGL driver included with
Matrox PowerDesk:
- OpenGL support may not be included in some versions of Matrox PowerDesk.
For a version of Matrox PowerDesk with OpenGL support enabled, see
the Matrox Web site (www.matrox.com/mga).
- Regardless of your graphics card or display driver, Windows 98 only
supports OpenGL acceleration with the primary display of your computer.
(The "primary display" is the one that first displays information when
you restart your computer.)
- With the "Tribes" game, you may notice some minor display artifacts and
the opening video introduction may not display properly.
- Using 3D Studio Max 2.0, you may experience problems with the viewports
being improperly redrawn. If this happens, simply click in a viewport
to properly update their display. (This problem isn't present with
version 2.5 or 3.0 of 3D Studio Max.)
- DualHead Multi-Display mode under Windows 2000
If you have a DualHead-supporting graphics card and you apply "DualHead
Multi-Display" mode under Windows 2000, Matrox PowerDesk automatically
clears the Windows check box called "Hide modes that this monitor cannot
display". (This check box is in the advanced settings of the "Display
Properties" dialog box.)
Under Windows 2000, please don't enable this check box while using
DualHead Multi-Display mode -- doing so may cause problems. When DualHead
Multi-Display mode is disabled, this option will be automatically restored
to its previous setting. For more information on DualHead Multi-Display
mode, see context-sensitive help.
- 15-bit color palette support for Windows 2000
For advanced users: By default, the 15-bit color palette is unavailable
for Windows 2000. If you need to use this color palette, you can make it
available by adding the "User.Enable15Bpp" value to your Windows registry
and then setting this value to "1". If you're adding this value, add it
under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" -> "SYSTEM" -> "CurrentControlSet" -> "Services"
-> "mgau" or "g200" or "g400" -> "Device0". The value type is "REG_DWORD".

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
