TABLET INSTALLATION

For information on connecting the Wacom tablet to
your system and installing the tablet software, refer
to the installation guide that came with your tablet.

WHAT'S NEW IN THIS RELEASE

  * EXTENDED MOUSE BUTTONS ADDED *

Extended mouse button support options have been
added under Windows XP and 2000 for all pen or
mouse buttons (except the pen eraser). The new
    options are 4th-Click and 5th-Click.

Under Windows XP and 2000, the Intuos2 five
button mouse and lens cursor button settings have
changed. The 4th and 5th button defaults are now
    set to 5th-Click and 4th-Click.

  * RUN... COMMAND ADDED *

The Run... command was added and provides the
ability to launch an application from a Tool Button,
Tablet Button, or Pop-up Menu. Assigning the
Run... option to a Tool Button or Tablet Button, or
selecting the Add Run Application... button on the
Pop-up Menu tab, displays a dialog box for selecting
    an application to launch.

Note: This option is not available if you have not
    logged into your system.

  * POP-UP MENU TAB CHANGES *

Drop-down menus have been added to the Pop-up
Menu tab, providing you with the ability to change
the font and size of the Pop-up Menu.

  * PL & CINTIQ CALIBRATION CHANGES *

For PL and Cintiq series tablets, the calibration
dialog has been updated to provide better
    instructions on conducting the calibration.

KNOWN ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS

  * GENERAL NOTES *

WINDOWS XP - WHEN INSTALLING ON
    SYSTEMS WITH MULTIPLE USERS
If you install the tablet on a system with multiple
users and the tablet only works on the primary
    user desktop, reboot the system.

SAFE MODE - SUPPORT FOR USB TABLETS
If your PC was not configured with a USB keyboard
or USB mouse, it may not support USB devices
while in Windows Safe Mode. In this case, your
tablet will not function in Safe Mode.

WINDOWS NT 4.0 - TABLET NOT FOUND
    AT SYSTEM BOOT-UP
If an input device is left on the tablet during
boot-up, NT 4.0 sometimes will register the tablet
as a mouse, and the tablet driver does not load.
To avoid this problem, remove all input devices
from the tablet surface prior to booting up NT 4.0.

FOR LCD/PEN-TABLETS: If your tablet is
not detected after starting or restarting
Windows NT, the NTDETECT program may have
incorrectly identified the tablet as a serial
mouse and loaded the mouse driver. If this occurs,
switch off the tablet’s power for a few seconds,
then turn it back on and restart Windows. To avoid
this problem always power down your tablet when
shutting down or restarting Windows NT.

    WINDOWS 95 & 98 -
    MISSING SCREEN CURSOR
If you have disconnected a serial mouse and the
screen cursor is not visible, you can reattach the
mouse and add a second serial card for the tablet,
or you can do the following:

    1. Press Ctrl+Esc, then type "s" and "c" to open
       the Control Panel window.

    2. Use the arrow keys to select the Accessibility
Options icon. Then press Enter to open the
       Accessibility Properties control panel.
Note that if this icon is not visible, you will
need to install this Windows component using the
       Add/Remove Programs control panel.

    3. Press Shift+Tab, then right arrow, right arrow
       to select the Mouse tab.

    4. Press Alt+m to select the Use MouseKeys checkbox.

    5. Tab to OK and press Enter.

    6. Answer Yes to the prompt on using the setting
for default. The screen cursor should appear.

    WINDOWS 98 FIRST EDITION -
    USING DIFFERENT USB PORTS
A USB tablet will work only on the USB port where
it was installed. If you plug the tablet into a
different USB port, the Add New Hardware dialog
will display. (Windows must set up the proper
registry information for each port.) To allow the
tablet to work on multiple USB ports, go through
the installation process for each port. It is not
necessary to insert a CD or copy any files since
they are already installed. Select Skip File when
    asked to copy a file.

INTUOS TABLETS: AFTER CHANGING THE TABLET
ORIENTATION, TABLET BUTTON ICONS DO NOT
    APPEAR
When using the tablet in the Portrait or Landscape
Flipped orientation, the tablet menu button icons
will not display on your monitor. However, the
tablet menu buttons are still functional.

  * SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY NOTES *

    MICROSOFT ACCESS V2.0
    MS PROJECT 4.0
    QUARK EXPRESS
    QUICKBOOKS PRO 5.0
Using the pen to click or double-click in a field
causes the screen cursor to freeze. In this
situation, move your PS/2 or serial mouse to
    unfreeze the screen cursor.
