2. INSTALLING 9FX REALITY 334 DRIVERS AND HAWKEYE FOR WINDOWS NT 4.0
------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing the NT 4.0 driver and Hawkeye utility is currently a two step
process. The first step installs the driver and the second step installs
the Hawkeye utility. These two steps will be combined into a single step
install for the final release of the driver.

Note: If your computer has IBM-preinstalled software, the video device driver
for Windows NT 4.0 has already been installed on the hard disk of your
computer. However, the information included in this file will be
helpful if you ever need to reinstall or update the device driver, or
if you want to change the video settings.

    -----------------------------------------------------------
    A) INSTALLING THE 9FX REALITY 334 VIDEO DEVICE DRIVER
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    1. Start Windows NT 4.0 in VGA mode: When the "Please select the
operating system to start..." message is displayed, select
WINDOWS NT WORKSTATION VERSION 4.00 [VGA MODE].

    2. After Windows NT 4.0 has finished starting, click on the START button,
select SETTINGS, and then click on CONTROL PANEL.

    3. Double-click on the DISPLAY icon. The Display Properties window
        appears.

Note: You can also display the Display Properties window by
clicking the right mouse button anywhere on the Desktop
and then selecting the PROPERTIES option from the pop-up
               menu.

    4. Click on the SETTINGS tab.

    5. Click on the DISPLAY TYPE button. The Display Type window
        appears.

    6. Under Adapter Type, click on the CHANGE button.

    7. In the Change Display window, click on the HAVE DISK button.

    8. Insert the 9FX Reality 334 driver for Windows NT 4.0 diskette 1 into
drive A; then click on the OK button. Or, if you have copied the
driver files to a directory on your harddrive or to a network drive,
enter the correct path and click on the OK button.

NOTE: Do NOT store the driver files in a directory called
C:\NUMBER9 as it will create a conflict with the configuration
            file of the same name!

    9. From the list of displayed S3 devices, select the 'Reality 334'
device; then click on the OK button.

    10. In the Third-party Drivers window, click on the YES button to
        proceed.

o If a message appears stating the driver is already installed
on the system, and asks if you want to use the current or new
drivers, be sure to select the NEW button.

    11. When the message "The drivers were successfully installed" is
displayed, remove the driver diskette from the drive; then click
        on the OK button.

    12. In the Display Type window, click on the CLOSE button.

    13. In the Display Properties window, click on the CLOSE or APPLY button.

    14. When the System Settings Change window appears with a message
asking if you want to restart your computer, click on YES.

NOTE: The first time NT 4.0 is restarted after the 9FX Reality 334 driver
has been installed, an 'Invalid Display Settings' message box
will appear stating that 'A new graphics driver has been installed'.
Press OK on the message box and OK on the Display Properties
window and then continue with the installation of Hawkeye below.

    -----------------------------------------------------------
    B) INSTALLING THE HAWKEYE FOR WINDOWS NT 4.0 FEATURE SET
    -----------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Before installing the HawkEye for Windows NT 4.0 feature set, please
close all open application programs and disable any anti-virus
software that is running on your computer until the HawkEye for
Windows NT 4.0 installation is complete!

NOTE: If you copy the driver files to a directory on your local harddrive,
do NOT store the driver files in a directory called C:\NUMBER9 as
it will create a conflict with the configuration file of the same
           name!

Installing the Hawkeye software is a one step procedure. Simply run
the file 'SETUP.EXE' on driver diskette 1 or from the harddrive directory
where the driver files are stored.

    1. Insert the 9FX Reality 334 driver for Windows NT 4.0 diskette 1 into
drive A. Or, if you have copied the driver files to a directory on
your harddrive or to a network drive, proceed directly to step 2.

    2. From Windows NT 4.0, click on the Windows NT 4.0 START button.

    3. Select RUN...

    4. Run SETUP from the drive A or from the directory on your local
harddrive, network drive, or CDROM that contains the 9FX Reality
334 video driver. For example, if your CDROM is drive D: and the
drivers are located in a directory called NT40, then you would
type: D:\NT40\SETUP. If you're not sure exactly where the drivers
are, use the BROWSE option on the RUN... window to locate the 9FX
        Reality 334 SETUP program.

SETUP.EXE will perform the HawkEye for Windows NT 4.0 installation for you.

Follow the on-screen instructions when SETUP.EXE is run until the
installation is complete. When the installtion is finished, remove the
the diskette from drive A if once was used.

    7. If prompted, click on the 'Continue' button to test the new monitor

Software sometimes does not perform consistently across all resolutions and
color depths. If you experience a persistent problem for which you cannot
determine a cause or solution, try switching to a different resolution
 with Resolution Exchange.

If the problem is consistent across resolutions. Please consult application
documentation. Most applications are distributed with a READ_ME file
similar to this file. READ_ME files usually contain a wealth of information
 regarding potential video conflicts.

If you have a problem that is not described in this file or is unresolved when
you try the suggested solutions, please contact the IBM HelpDesk or check to
see if there are any driver updates available.
