Installation of Windows 95 Drivers for Sound Card SND-ESS1688
=============================================================================================

Step by step installation instructions for ESS1688 Win95 driver ver 4.01.11.

    1. Start Windows 95.
    2. Click on Start.
    3. Click on Settings.
    4. Click on Control Panel.
    5. Click on Add New Hardware. 
    6. Click Next> then click NO when asked "Do you want Windows to search for New Hardware?".
    7. Click Next>.
    8. Select "Sound, Video, and Game Controller" from the list and click Next>.
    9. Click on Have Disk... and type A:\WIN95 (note: make sure that your driver disk is 
       in drive A), then click OK.
    10. The driver name is "ESS ES1688 Plug and Play AudioDriver". Select this from the 
        driver list and click OK.
    11. Click Finish.

After restarting the system you can go to Device Manager (Start > Settings > Control Panel > 
System > Device Manager) and check if the following drivers are listed under 
"Sound, Video, and Game Controller".

    1. ESS ES1688 Plug and Play AudioDriver
    2. Gameport Joystick


NOTE: If you experience a problem, please go through the check list below.

    1. Make sure there is only one entry under Device Manager for above drivers.
    2. Check and see if the driver version is 4.01.11.
    3. Check the resource tab under ESS ES1688 driver properties for conflicts.
    4. If you are not sure about the resources available, you can check the box 
       for "Use Automatic Setting".
