Accompanied with this README.TXT file are the following files:

   -  AWDFL52B.COM    BIOS Installation Utility
   -  W46F219D.BIN    Updated BIOS file dated 7/2/97



BIOS Update Procedure:
----------------------

1) Boot up your computer with a DOS system disk

                              OR

   For Windows 95 press F5 key when "Starting MS-DOS" appears on bootup,
   then press <SHIFT> and <F5> keys together to go to the DOS prompt when the
   message "Starting Windows 95..." appears.

2) Insert the diskette with the two files stated as above into Drive A:

3) At A:> prompt type: AWDFL52B, then hit <Enter> to run the installation
   utility.

4) Type in:  A:W46F219D.BIN, then hit <Enter> to install the new BIOS file.

5) DO NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER UNTIL THE UPDATE IS FINISHED! 

6) Reboot your computer.

1) To fix the AMIDiag Ver.5.0 DMA controller test failure on MBD-C6SM when
   MDM-S56/C is installed. The error message given by AMIDiag Ver 5.0 is
   " DMA Controller 1 Registers Failed READ/WRITE".

2) To fix the system hang up problem by disabling "CD-ROM DMA" option
   in Windows 95 device manger.
   ( SiS 5571 chipset does not support DMA for CD-ROM)

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
