 ===============================================
 1. Overview of adapter and driver installation
 ===============================================
 Details on adapter installation and the HPVGSET utility are contained in the
 "HP DeskDirect PCI TP Lan Adapter Installation Guide" (5963-6553)
 and on the HP Support Disk in the /TECHNOTE/J2585B.TXT file.

 Briefly, the steps for installation are:

 1. Prepare the computer for a new adapter.
 2. Install the HP 10/100VG LAN Adapter.
 3. Run HPVGSET to configure and test the HP 10/100VG LAN Adapter.
 4.  Attach the network cable.
 5. Run SETUP to help locate the correct installation instructions.

 In most cases, the networking vendor's installation utility can retrieve
 the driver directly from the HP Support Disk. When using the SETUP utility
 on the HP Support Disk, an asterisk (*) next to a driver description
 indicates the vendor's install utility can load the driver directly from
 the HP Support Disk.

 Use the synopsis below to help locate the directory that contains the driver
 needed for the networking software that is or will be loaded on the PC. In
 the same directory, a README file details the steps to install and configure
 the adapter driver.

 To create a copy of the HP Support Disk, a blank formatted 3.5-inch floppy
 and the Support Disk archive file are needed. For example, if the J2585B
 Support Disk archive file J2585B.EXE is on the root of the C drive and a
 blank 3.5-inch floppy is in the A drive, execute the following commands:

    C:
    MKDIR J2585
    CD J2585
    \J2585B.EXE
    FORMAT A: /V (use the volume label LAN_DRV_424)
    XCOPY *.* /S/E A:

 NOTE: Do not extract the Support Disk archive directly onto the floppy.
       Temporary files used during the extraction will exceed the 1.44
       Mbyte size limit of the floppy.
