Overview of adapter and driver installation =============================================== Details on adapter installation and the HPVGSET utility are contained in the "HP DeskDirect PCI TP Lan Adapter Installation Guide" (5963-6553) and on the HP Support Disk in the /TECHNOTE/J2585B.TXT file. Briefly, the steps for installation are: 1. Prepare the computer for a new adapter. 2. Install the HP 10/100VG LAN Adapter. 3. Run HPVGSET to configure and test the HP 10/100VG LAN Adapter. 4. Attach the network cable. 5. Run SETUP to help locate the correct installation instructions. In most cases, the networking vendor's installation utility can retrieve the driver directly from the HP Support Disk. When using the SETUP utility on the HP Support Disk, an asterisk (*) next to a driver description indicates the vendor's install utility can load the driver directly from the HP Support Disk. Use the synopsis below to help locate the directory that contains the driver needed for the networking software that is or will be loaded on the PC. In the same directory, a README file details the steps to install and configure the adapter driver. ========================================================= 2.
