Packet Driver Installation
PCMPD syntax:
PCMPD [-d] [-h] <PD_INT_NO> [IRQ] [IO_BASE]
where:
[-d] The "-d" option does not start LAN card until
this driver is called by the higher layer programs first.
[-h] This option displays the on-line help.
<PD_INT_NO> Specifies the software interrupt where to load the packet
driver. This value must be specified, and it must be in one
of the following ranges:
0x60-0x66
0x68-0x6f
0x78-0x7e
0x67 is the EMS interrupt, and 0x70 through 0x77 are used by
the second 8259 interrupt controller. These values are thus
not usable.
Please note the 0x in front of the value to indicate
a hexadecimal number.
[IRQ] Specifies the interrupt (IRQ) for the LAN function.
All legal IRQ values are supported. If Card Service is
installed in the system, PCMPD checks with the Card Service
to see if the IRQ you specified is free. If it is, PCMPD
uses this IRQ. If it is not free, PCMPD asks the Card
Service to assign an available IRQ and use that IRQ instead
of the one you specified.
If Card Service is not installed, PCMPD will try to use the
IRQ you specified regardless whether it is free. In case
the IRQ is not free, PCMPD will not be able to come up, or
the system may hang.
If Card Service is installed in the system, it is recommended
that you do not specify the IRQ value and let PCMPD assign
it for you. If Card Service in not installed, please make
sure the IRQ you assigned, or the default value (5), is not
used by another device in the system.
[IO_BASE] Specifies the base I/O address.
The comment about IRQ assignment also applies to the
IO_BASE parameter. If Card Service is installed in the
system, it is recommended that you do not specify the
IO_BASE value and let PCMPD assign it for you. If
Card Service in not installed, please make sure the IO Base
you assigned, or the default value (0x300), is not used by
another device in the system.
Usage examples:
1) The following command loads the Packet Driver at software interrupt
0x60 (hexadecimal).
PCMPD 0x60
2) Assuming no Card Service is installed, the next command loads the
Packet Driver at software interrupt 60h, LAN hardware interrupt 12,
and I/O base address 0x320.
PCMPD 0x60 12 0x320
3) The next command line unloads a previously loaded packet driver.
PCMPD -u
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
