Installing 16-bit 100/10M PCMCIA Adapter for MS Windows for Workgroups

Installation Procedures

This  driver  diskette  includes  an  OEMSETUP.INF  file for Windows for
Workgroups. Using  the OEMSETUP.INF file , the user can  select  whichever
100/10M PCMCIA Adapters are to be installed based on Windows dialog menus.

The OEMSETUP.INF file contains selections for 100/10M PCMCIA adapter.

1. Proceed  to install  Windows  for  Workgroups.  If you already  have an
   installed  Windows  for  Workgroups , open  the Control Panel Window to
   change the network settings.

2. When Windows asks for the type of network adapter , it will show a list
   of   all  network  adapters  supported  by  Windows.  You  must  select
   [ Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter ].

3. Windows will ask for an  OEMSETUP.INF file. Since the OEMSETUP.INF file
   is included in the driver disk, insert the diskette in drive A:

   Input the full path where the OEMSETUP.INF file is located.
   ( i.e. A:\WFW311 )

4. You will see a Windows dialog menu listing all network adapters included
   in the OEMSETUP.INF file.  Select the network adapter that you will be
   using.

5. Select [16-bit 100/10M Fast Ethernet PCMCIA Adapter] and press <Enter>.

6. You  need to  specify IRQ and I/O settings, which must be  equal to the
   /irq and /iop parameters specified to the Card Enabler program.

7. Windows will copy  the NDIS  driver file and update the Windows network
   system  automatically.

   At this point , you can finish the installation or continue the process
   according to your preferences.

After WFW finishes the setup for the driver, it will modify your CONFIG.SYS,
AUTOEXEC.BAT, and PROTOCOL.INI files.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
