1. Hardware notes
-----------------

The Eiger Labs EigerNet PCMCIA adapter supports "Hot" insertion and removal.
Thus, the PCMCIA adapter can be inserted into and/or removed from a PC
that is either switched off or switched on.

The Eiger Labs EigerNet PCMCIA adapter has full support for Card Services
version 2.10, including automatic resources allocation, Hot Swapping and
Plug-and-Play features. If you have a Card and Socket Services software
version less than 2.10, please contact your computer or operating system
manufacturer to receive an upgrade.

2. The Eiger Labs Wizard system requirements
-----------------------------------------

We recommend that a disk cache program (SMARTDRV.EXE) and the mouse
driver are loaded before running the Wizard to speed up the installation
and file copying procedures.

Important! Make sure that your CONFIG.SYS file has "FILES=30" line. 30 is
the minimum value. Otherwise the Wizard will not be able to copy drivers
from the distribution diskette.


3. Drivers keywords
-------------------

This section describes the software drivers keywords that can be used to
customize a driver's configuration. A keyword for the ODI driver should
be added to the NET.CFG file under the driver's section. A keyword for
the NDIS2 driver should be added to the PROTOCOL.INI file under the driver's
section.
IMPORTANT! A wrong selection of keywords or keywords' value may result in a
non proper operation of the PCMCIA adapter. Make sure you are familiar with
the different keywords before using any of them.

Abbreviations used in the parameters value:

hhhh   - Hexadecimal word value without prefixes and suffixes, e.g. 3A5
0xhhhh - Hexadecimal word value with prefix '0x', e.g. 0x3A5
hh     - Hexadecimal byte value without prefixes and suffixes, e.g. 3A
0xhh   - Hexadecimal byte value with prefix '0x', e.g. 0x3A
dddd   - Decimal word value, e.g. 394
dd     - Decimal byte value, e.g. 39


ODI driver keywords
-------------------

   PORT hhhh
     Specifies the I/O base address for the adapter.
     Card Services software may ignore this keyword.
     The default value is 300h.
     Example:  PORT 320

   INT dd
     Specifies the IRQ interrupt line for the adapter.
     Card Services software may ignore this keyword.
     The default value is 5.
     Example:  INT 10

   MEM hhhh
     Specifies the segment of RAM the adapter will map its attribute
     (flash) memory.
     The keyword is ignored when Card Services software is used.
     The default value is D000.

   SOCKET dd
     Specifies the host computer PCMCIA slot number where the adapter
     is inserted. optional values are 0 or 1.
     The use of this keyword disables socket auto detection by the driver.
     The keyword is ignored when Card Services software is used.
     The default value is 0.

   SPEED_100
     Forces 100 Mb/s LAN speed. This keyword should not be used normally.
     The adapter is able to auto detect the LAN speed.
     Example: SPEED_100

   SPEED_10
     Forces 10 Mb/s LAN speed. This keyword should not be used normally.
     The adapter is able to auto detect the LAN speed.
     Example: SPEED_10


NDIS2 driver keywords
---------------------

   IOPORT = 0xhhhh
     Specifies the I/O base address for the adapter.
     The default value is 0x300.
     Card Services software may ignore this keyword.
     Example:  IOPORT = 0x320

   INT = dd

     Card Services software may ignore this keyword.
