Accessing your images or files on the image card reader after proper hardware and software installation:

1) Reboot your computer after installation of software drivers

2) Have a memory card inserted into the reader (the light on the reader should be on solid) If not check the usb port or take out the card and try to replug the reader

3) Now the computer should recognize and create a new drive letter on your computer, you may verify this when you double click on MY COMPUTER icon on your desktop.

4) Open the new drive created simply by double clicking on the drive.

5) Now you should be able to view folders on your memory card. Open the folder in which your digital camera has placed the images by double click into the folder

6) Once you are able to see the image files, simply double click on the file and your windows default image software or Internet Explorer will initiate to view your images.

7) From here you may choose to edit or copy these images into your hard drive. Remember the images are being read directly from the memory card until you save or copy them into your hard drive. Do Not remove the card from the image card reader when the light is flashing. Only remove the card from the image card reader when the light is lit solid. When the light is flashing on the reader it means the computer is still accessing the card in the image reader.

8) Note: The reader basically acts like a floppy drive or a zip drive. Whatever you can do to your floppy drive you are able to do with the reader/memory card. Ex: cut and paste images or data from the memory card onto your hard drive.

Do Not remove the card from the image card reader when the light is flashing. Only remove the card from the image card reader when the light is lit solid. When the light is flashing on the reader it means the computer is still accessing the card in the image reader.

Note: SmartMedia Cards - Single slot SmartMedia Cards should be inserted with the gold plate face down and Dual Slot SmartMedia Cards should be inserted with the gold plate face up.

If you are running into problems installing the usb reader please verify that you are pluggin the usb reader directly to the usb port on the computer rather than through a usb hub or another usb device. Also make sure that the memory card you have is good and not corrupt. You can do so by reformatting the card using the camera. Remember that when you reformat the card all data is erased from the card.
