       REMOVE.TXT for Toshiba Card Manager Version 3.0 - March 21, 1994
      ------------------------------------------------------------------

The following discussion gives general guidelines on how to remove the
previous (rev 1.0) version of Toshiba Card Manager, and the Toshiba
PCMCIA.SYS Enabler (if installed), both of which should be done prior
to installing Toshiba Card Manager version 3.0.

How to remark out lines in different files:

In DOS files (CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT), just add the word REM at
the beginning of the line you wish to remark out.

In Windows files (WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI), just add a semicolon to
the beginning of the line you wish to remark out.

Removing Toshiba Card Manager Version 1.0:

The CONFIG.SYS File:

1. Locate the Toshiba Card Manager drivers within CONFIG.SYS, and delete
or remark out the "device=" or "devicehigh=" lines which include them.
   The drivers are:
     PCMSS.EXE
     PCMCS.EXE
     PCMSCD.EXE
     PCMATA.SYS
     PCMFFCS.EXE
     MSFLASH.SYS
     DBLFLASH.EXE

2. Locate any added EMM386 excludes for Toshiba Card Manager and remove
these from the "device=emm386.exe" line. These excludes are of the
form "X=nnnn-nnnn". If you are using a different memory manager such
as QEMM or 386MAX, please refer to your documentation for the exact
syntax of the Exclude parameters for these utilities.

The AUTOEXEC.BAT File

1. Locate any PATH statements which include the Toshiba Card Manager
directory, and delete that directory from the statement.

2. Locate any path statement that appends the Toshiba Card Manager
path to the system path, and delete or remark it out.
   E.g., "PATH = %PATH%;C:\PCMPLUS"

The Windows File WIN.INI

1. Locate the [windows] section and remove PCMWARN.EXE from the "run=" line.

The Windows File SYSTEM.INI

1. Locate the [386Enh] section. Within this section, modify the
   following lines:

device=pcmvcd.386 - delete or remark it out.

;device=*vcd.386 - remove the leading semicolon, which will
			    "un-remark the line".

any "EMMExclude=" lines containing address ranges which match
the ranges in the "device=emm386.exe" line in CONFIG.SYS.
Delete or remark out such EMMExclude lines.

any "PCMCIAComx=" statements. Delete or remark them out.

any "COMxBASE=" statements appearing between the "patched by PCM+"
statements/remarks. Delete or remark them out.

2. Locate and delete or remark out the entire [PCMCIA] section, if present.

3. Do not modify or delete any other lines in SYSTEM.INI

Removing the Toshiba PCMCIA.SYS Enabler:

1. Remove or remark out any lines in CONFIG.SYS containing the text
   strings "PCMCIA.SYS" or "PCMCIA2.SYS".

2. Remove any "X=nnnn-nnnn" parameters in the CONFIG.SYS
"device=EMM386.EXE" line which may have been added to support
   PCMCIA.SYS or PCMCIA2.SYS.

After All Modifications Are Made

1. Reboot the system. This makes all of the changes effective.

2. Continue with your installation of Toshiba Card Manager Version 3.0.
