Pagell Pagel 2 LAN/MODEM PC Card Quick InstallationLAN/MODEM PC Card Quick Installation Troubleshooting Ql: Al: to IS Q2: A2: Pagel 3 The LAN/MODEM PC Card adapter conflicts with the sound card in my DOS or Windows 3.x system. How do I correct this? After installing CardWizard, modify the CONFIG.SYS file to read as follows: modify ~ DEVICE=C:\CARDWIZ\CSALLOC EXE DEVICEC:\CARDWIZ\CSALLOC EXE Why is the wrong Socket Service driver installed? CardWizard and CardWorks will sometimes detect an Intel SE82365SL PCMCIA interface chipset incorrectly and installs the wrong driver. You need to install the correct socket service driver (SS365SL.EXE) manually or copy the driver from your distributor. Modify the CONFIG.SYS as follows: DOS and Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups modify ~> DEVICE=C:\CARDWIZ\SSIB M720.EXE /SKT:2 to DEVICE=C:\CARDWIZ\SS36 5SL.EXE ISKT:2 Q3: I have a built-in modem in my computer. Does it conflict with the LAN/MODEM PC Card? Can I use both modems in my system? A3: You can use both modems but must make sure that their COM port and IRQ settings are not the same. If the built-in modem uses COM2IIRQ3 make sure that CardWizard does not assign these settings to the LAN/Modem PC Card. 04: Why can’t I find my LAN/MODEM PC Card Pagel 4 LAN/MODEM PC Card Quick InstallationLAN/MODEM PC Card Quick Installation after a system warm-boot? A4: Some computers have a BIOS detection problem. Please ask your notebook reseller to update your BIOS, or cold-boot your system. 05: Why can’t my DOS communication program find the LAN/MODEM PC Card? AS: Your DOS communication program may not allow the user to modify the IRQ setting for the assigned COMport or it can only use lower IRQ settings. Modify the COMport IRQ setting in CardWizard to match an available setting in your communication program. 06: Why can’t I see the network information in CardWizard? A6: Beause the CIS of LAN/Modem PC Card is single-function (Modem only). Therefore you can see the Modem information only. 07: Why can’t the NDIS3 driver work properly after I installing the NDIS3 driver in Windows 95 environment? A7: Check your CONFIG.SYS file. If you have an EMM386.EXE line, remove any “x=” paramenters. Another possibility is the NDIS3 driver can’t auto detect the available resources. In this situation, the user need to assign resources by manual. The steps are as follow: 1 Select “Device manager” from “System” in the “Control Panel”. Double click on the “Multi-function adapters”. There should be “! Multifunction Card Driver, version ~OOO(X”. 2. Choose “Properties” and then click on “Resources” to enable “Set configuration Manually”. And then disable “Use automatic settings” selection. 3. Now the user need to manually set all resources. First is the Input/Output range(Modem lOBase) setting. Choose the “Change Setting” button and then click the 1~ or 4- button to select an available Pagel 5 Pagel 6 LAN/MODEM PC Card Quid Installatioii resource(when “No devices are conflicting” shown on the button message box). 4. Second input /Output Range is the the LAN lOBase. Do the same procedure as step 3. 5. The third parameter is the Interrupt Request for both modem and LAN function. Choose a no conflict interrupt resource. 6. The fourth parameter is the Memory Range(Common Memory). The available range is OxD0000-OxDFFFF. 7. The fifth parameter is the Memory Range(Attribute Memory). The available range is oxD0000-OxDFFFF but must no conflict with Common Memory Range. 8. After all the settings are setted, click on the “OK” button to restart the Windows 95 system. And the PC card should work now. Pagel 7Download Driver Pack
