       Device Mapping Files Update

The downloadable containers, Mappings_4.5.tar or Mappings_4.5.zip
  contain the following three files:

       Readme.txt (this file)
       external_robot_mappings.txt
       external_drive_mappings.txt

These external_*_mappings.txt files are used by the NetBackup
"Device Configuration Wizard" to automatically configure new
devices. The files do not affect the software's ability to
use any of the devices, only the ability to recognize and
  automatically configure them.

********** IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER *************
********** PLEASE READ: *************
*********************************************

The presence of a device in either mappings file does not
indicate, expressed or implied, support of the device on
  the target NetBackup/Media Manager platform.

Refer to the support web page, www.veritas.com, compatibility
lists for a complete list of supported devices for NetBackup by
  platform and NetBackup release.

These files are for NetBackup 4.5GA only and CAN
NOT BE READ by other NetBackup releases.

  The external_robot_mappings.txt and the external_drive_mappings.txt
files contain a Revision number in the file's header.

Verify the new mappings files are the most recent available by checking
  www.veritas.com.

Any mappings files without a Revision number,
may be considered to be Revision 0 (zero).

Installation Instructions:

1.) Download and extract the new mapping files

Create a temporary directory or folder

Obtain via ftp the Mappings_4.5.[ zip | tar ] file
      to the temporary directory/folder.

      Unzip Mappings_4.5.zip or /bin/tar xvf Mappings_4.5.tar

This will create 3 files in the temporary location:
	     Readme.txt (this file)
             external_drive_mappings.txt
             external_robot_mappings.txt

2.) Verify existing mappings files Revision.

      Windows
Use Windows Explorer to locate the mappings files in
        <Temp Folder> and <Veritas Install Path>\NetBackup\share

Use Notepad or Wordpad to view the mappings files.

      UNIX
        head -5 <temp_dir>/external_*_mappings.txt
        head -5 /usr/openv/share/external_*_mappings.txt

Verify the new mappings files have a higher Revision
number than the current mappings files.

  3.) Save current files

Always save the current files so they can be recovered
if needed. This example uses the date to mark the saved

	 <Veritas Install Path>/share/external_robot_mappings.<date>
