PowerVault 100T Travan 40 Device Driver for Windows 2000

This device driver is for use with the PowerVault 100T Travan 40 tape drive and Windows 2000.

Note: The following assumes a Travan 40 tape drive present and the drive is 
attached and powered on. 


Installing the Tape Device Driver in Windows 2000

1. Download and run the file Travan 40 Drivers.exe. The file will extract its 
contents to a temporary directory. The default directory is 
x:\Dell\Drivers\R44517\w2k where x:\ is the system root.

2. Go to the desktop. Right click on My Computer and select Manage. 
The Computer Management folder appears. Select Device Manager. 

3. Find the Travan tape drive in the device manager.

4. Right click the Travan tape drive and select Properties from the 
menu.

5. In the new window select the Driver tab.

6. Click the Update Driver button, this will start an installation 
wizard.

7. Click next to continue.

8. Select the option "Display a list of known drivers..." and click 
next.

9. Click Have Disk.

10. Enter the location of the extracted drivers (The default is 
x:\Dell\Drivers\R44517\w2k).  Where x: is the system root.

11. Follow the rest of the instructions in the wizard to finish 
installation.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
