PV-Tools Linux		Release Notes	Version 1.3	02-13-2003

1)  What is PV-Tools-Linux?:
	PV-Tools-Linux is a command line tool to update Flash micro code (also known as firmware) for PV-122T LTO.

2)  Installation:
	To install the application simply copy the following files to the desired directory on your hard drive.  
	PV-Tools-Linux	
	PV-122T-LTO_DRIVE_E32K.IMAGE -library firmware 				PV-122T_CHANGER_D37R.IMAGE - drive firmware

3)  Operation:  
	Type "cat /proc/scsi/scsi" at the command line.  This will shows an ordered list of devices as of the most recent SCSI bus scan. Unless the devices have been physically moved since the last scan, the first device in the list will be sg0, the second will be sg1 etc. 

	Match "Dell PV-122T" to the library code and run:  ./PV-Tools-Linux /dev/sg0 PV-122T_CHANGER_D37R.IMAGE 
to update the library firmware.

	Match "HP Ultrium 1-SCSI" to the drive code and run:  ./PV-Tools-Linux /dev/sg1 PV-122T-LTO_DRIVE_E32K.IMAGE 
to update the drive firmware.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
