Installing the Device Drivers for Windows 2000

1. Download and run the file LTO1_W2k.exe. The file will extract its contents to a temporary directory. 
The default directory is x:\Dell\Drivers\R58243\W2K where x:\ is the system root. 
2. Go to the desktop. Right click on My Computer and select Manage. The Computer Management folder appears. 
Select Device Manager. 
3. Find the LTO  tape drive in the device manager (it will either be “SEAGATE ULTRIUM06242-XXX” or “HP ULTRIUM 1-SCSI …”. 
4. Right click the LTO tape drive and select Properties from the menu. 
5. In the new window select the Driver tab. 
6. Click the Update Driver button, this will start an installation wizard. 
7. Click next to continue. 
8. Select the option "Search for a suitable driver for my device” and click next. 
9. Put a check mark in “Specify a Location” and click next 
10. Enter the location of the extracted drivers (The default is x:\Dell\Drivers\R58243\W2K). Click “OK”
11. Follow the rest of the instructions in the wizard to finish installation.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
