PowerVault 110T DLT VS80 Device Driver for Windows NT4.0 and Windows 2000

This device driver is for use with the PowerVault 110 DLT1 tape drive and Windows 2000.

Note:  The following assumes a PowerVault 110T DLT VS80 Drive is attached and powered on.

Installing the Device Drivers for Windows NT 4.0 

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Download and run the file DLT_VS80.exe. The file will extract its contents to a temporary directory. The default directory is x:\Dell\Drivers\110T_DLT_VS80\Drivers\NT where x:\ is the system root. 

2. Go to: Start - Settings - Control Panel and double click on Tape Devices. 

3. The Install Driver Window will open. 

4. Click on Have Disk. 

5. Click on Browse (you will receive an error indicating the A:\ drive is not accessible). 

6. Click Cancel. 

7. Go to the directory where the NT4.0 driver was extracted (x:\Dell\Drivers\110T_DLT_VS80\Drivers\NT). The file is Oemsetup. 

8. Highlight the file Oemsetup by clicking on it and then click Open. 

9. The Install From Disk window will open. 

10. Type in the full path to the location of the NT4.0 DLT VS80 driver or utilize the Browse button to locate the directory. 

11. Click Ok. 

12. The INSTALL DRIVER window will open listing "BENCHMARK Digital Linear Tape NT 4.0 ver 1.7". 

13. Click Ok. 

14. The NEW SCSI TAPE DEVICE FOUND window will open. 

15. Click Ok. 

16. Enter the full path where the Oemsetup file is located. 

17. Click Continue. 

18. The driver will now install. 

19. Once installation is complete click Ok to close the TAPE DEVICES window. 

20. Reboot the system. 

21. To verify the driver has been installed repeat step #2 and ensure the DLT VS80 drive is listed and under the DEVICES tab "(Drive Loaded)" is displayed and under the DRIVER tab "(Driver Started)" is displayed. 

Installing the Device Drivers for Windows 2000

1.  Download and run the file DLT_VS80.exe.  The file will extract its contents to a temporary directory.  The default directory is x:\Dell\Drivers\110T_DLT_VS80\W2K where x:\ is the system root.

2.  Go to the desktop.  Right click on My Computer and select Manage.  The Computer Management folder appears.  Select Device Manager. 

3.  Find the BNCHMARK DLT1 SCSI Sequential Device tape drive in the device manager.

4.  Right click the BNCHMARK DLT1 SCSI Sequential Device tape drive and select Properties from the menu.

5.  In the new window select the Driver tab.

6.  Click the Update Driver button, this will start an installation wizard.

7.  Click next to continue.

8.  Select the option "Display a list of known drivers..." and click next.

9.  Click Have Disk.

10. Enter the location of the extracted drivers (The default is x:\Dell\Drivers\110T_DLT_VS80\W2K).

11. Follow the rest of the instructions in the wizard to finish installation.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
