This document contains IC-Card+ PC Card installation notes, which is not
included in the IC-Card+ Ethernet PC Card USER'S GUIDE or onscreen
instructions, for Netware OS/2 ODI driver users.

1.0   Overview
--------------

        The ODI driver program allows you to run multiple protocol
        stacks and install up to two IC-Card+ PC Card in a workstation.
        This ODI driver supports the Port, Int, Node Address, Protocol
        and Frame options for creating your own NET.CFG file.

        For more information on these keywords, please refer to Novell
        "NetWare ODI shell for DOS - NET.CFG options".

        The NOVELL installation diskettes or CD ROM are necessary for
        the IC-Card+ PC Card installation.

2.0   Installation Notes
------------------------

    Please follow the instructions to enable the IC-Card+ PC Card in OS/2
    environment. Also refer to the INST_OS2.TXT file on the IC-Card+
    Installation disk.

    Install the Requester on the workstation.  For information on the
    installation procedure, please refer to Novell's "NetWare Client
    for OS/2" manual.

    The following installation procedure supports OS/2 version 3.0 or
    above only.


    2.1  First time installation from CD ROM
    ----------------------------------------

        Follow these steps:
        1. After inserting the Novell installation CD ROM,
           run INSTALL.EXE.

           Example:
             From the File Manager, click on your CD Drive letter
             and then double-click on the file INSTALL.EXE.

               Click Driver E -> "PRODUCTS"  -> "OS/2" ->
               "IBM_6" -> "INSTALL.EXE" -> "English".
               Driver E is a CD ROM drive.


        2. Click "Installation" and select "Requester on workstation...".

        3. Specify the target path for installing Requester files, and
           the source path that includes the Requester files.

           Example:

              C:\NETWARE        ; C is the target drive
                                ; E is a CD ROM drive

        4. Accept the default of "Edit CONFIG.SYS and Copy All Files..."
           in Requester Installation window.

        5. Specify the ODI for OS/2 driver in Step 1 - Choose the ODI LAN
           Driver window.

           Example: ICARDP.SYS

        6. Select "Global NetWare Shell Support" in Step 2 - Choose
           NetWare Support for DOS and Windows Applications window.
           Please reference Help for detail.

        7. Following screen's instructions and accept the default of
           the install message.

        8. Click "Cancel" in Copy ODI LAN Driver Files window.

        9. Please insert release driver diskette into the disk drive.

       10. Open another OS/2 window and copy ODI for OS/2 driver to
           NetWare Client for OS/2 target path.

           Example:
             1. Use Install program of the release driver diskette;
                copy below files to Client for OS/2 target path.
                Specify target path; then, the install
                program will copy these files automatically.

                C:\NETWARE      ; C is target drive

             2. Copy files by user

                >COPY A:\CLIENT.OS2\DSCD.OS2 C:\NETWARE
                >COPY A:\CLIENT.OS2\DSCDOPEN.OS2 C:\NETWARE
                >COPY A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.OS2\ICARDP.SYS C:\NETWARE
                >COPY A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.OS2\NET.CFG  C:\NETWARE

                Note:
                  A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.OS2 is source path.
                  C:\NETWARE is target path

       11. Modify the CONFIG.SYS file where the DSCD.OS2
           and DSCDOPEN.OS2 client drivers are now part of the
           the CONFIG.SYS file.

                *** Example CONFIG.SYS file ***
                -------------------------------
                   REM -- ODI-Driver Files BEGIN --
          DEVICE=C:\NETWARE\DSCD.OS2  /iop=300 /irq=11    --> add
          DEVICE=C:\NETWARE\DSCDOPEN.OS2                  --> add
          DEVICE=C:\NETWARE\ICARDP.SYS
                   REM -- ODI-Driver Files END --

          Note:
            /iop=300 means: I/O base address is 300
            /irq=11  means: Interrupt number is 11
            The Port, Int value of NET.CFG file must the same as DEVICE
            command lines as above.

       12. Return to NetWare Workstation for OS/2 Installation Utility
           window.

       13. Click "Configuration" and select "This workstation...".

       14. Specify the full target path of NET.CFG file and
           edit the NET.CFG file.

                Netware Requester
                        default login drive F

       15. Please refer to the NET.CFG Option Information window to
           edit your own configuration file, Click "Save".

           Example:
             Click "Usage"  and "Description"

       16. Restart your system to allow the changes to take effect.

       17. Click "NetWare Tools" to login on the NetWare server in the
           Novell window.



    2.2  Re-installation
    --------------------

        1. Assuming that your have successfully installed OS/2 Warp
           and NetWare Client for OS/2 onto your system.

        2. Please insert released driver diskette into the disk drive.

        3. Open OS/2 window and copy ODI for OS/2 driver to
           NetWare Client for OS/2 target path.

           Example:
             1. Use Install program of the release driver diskette;
                copy below files to Client for OS/2 target path.
                Specify target path; then, the install
                program will copy these files automatically.

                Ex. C:\NETWARE  ; C is target drive

             2. Copy files by user

                >COPY A:\CLIENT.OS2\DSCD.OS2 C:\NETWARE
                >COPY A:\CLIENT.OS2\DSCDOPEN.OS2 C:\NETWARE
                >COPY A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.OS2\ICARDP.SYS C:\NETWARE
                >COPY A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.OS2\NET.CFG  C:\NETWARE

                Note:
                  A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.OS2 is source path.
                  C:\NETWARE is target path

        4. Run the INSTALL.EXE on Client for OS/2 target path.

           Example:
             >CD C:\NETWARE     ; C is target drive
             >INSTALL.EXE       ; NETWARE is the default path

        5. Click "Installation" and select "Requester on workstation...".

        6. Specify the target path for install Requester files and
           the source path that includes the Requester files.

           Example: C:\NETWARE          ; C is the target drive

        7. Select "Only Edit CONFIG.SYS..." in the Requester Installation
           window.

        8. Specify the ODI for OS/2 driver in Step 1 - Choose the ODI LAN
           Driver window and click "Continue".

           Example: ICARDP.SYS

        9. Select "Global NetWare Shell Support" in Step 2 - Choose
           NetWare Support for DOS and Windows Applications window.
           Please refer to Help for details.

       10. Following screen's instructions and accept the default of
           the install message.

       11. After the system has updated the CONFIG.SYS file, add both
           DSCD.OS2 and DSCDOPEN.OS2 client driver and the modified
           CONFIG.SYS.

          DEVICE=C:\NETWARE\DSCDOPEN.OS2                  --> add
          DEVICE=C:\NETWARE\ICARDP.SYS
                        REM -- ODI-Driver Files END --

          Note:
            /iop=300 means: I/O base address is 300
            /irq=11  means: Interrupt number is 11

       12. Return to NetWare Workstation for OS/2 Installation Utility
           window.

       13. Click "Configuration" and select "This workstation...".

       14. Specify the full target path of the NET.CFG file and
           edit the NET.CFG file.

       15. Please refer to the NET.CFG Option Information window to

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
