This document contains IC-Card+ PC Card installation notes, which is
not included in the IC-Card+ PC Card USER'S GUIDE or onscreen
instructions, for SUN PC-NFS V5.0 users.

1.0 Overview

    Note: If a user would like to use an ODI MLID driver, please refer to
          the \NETWARE\PCNFS.TXT file.
          If a user would like to use an PACKET driver, please refer to
          the \PKTDRV\PCNFS.TXT FILE.


2.0 Installation Notes for NDIS Driver 1
----------------------------------------

        The directory structure has been setup for automatic OEM
        installation. The OEM Installation section in this manual provides
        a brief explanation regarding OEM driver installation.  Follow the
        guidelines in the Sun Microsystems PC-NFS manuals for more details
        to install the IC-Card+ driver.


    Step 1:
        Insert the PC-NFS QUIKNDIS disk into the system's floppy disk
         drive. Change the drive letter containing the QUIKNDIS disk.

    Step 2:
        Type QUIKNDIS at the prompt and press Enter.

    Step 3:
        A message will appear asking for the current boot drive.
        Enter the current boot drive and press Enter.

    Step 4:
        In the next dialog box, press "Y" to save the current
        PROTOCOL.INI as PROTOCOL.OLD.  Ignore this step if this
        dialog box does not appear.

    Step 5:
        In the adapter card list box, select the Custom option
        to install the NDIS driver for PC-NFS.

    Step 6:
        Now, follow the dialog boxes and enter the correct driver
        path to install the NDIS driver.  For example, A:\NDIS\DOS.

    Step 7:
        Next, enter the ICARDP for the NIF file name and press Enter.

    Step 8:
        Follow the dialog boxes and enter the correct parameters.

    Step 9:
        Installation of the family NDIS 2.0.1 driver for
        PC-NFS is now completed.



2.1 Installation Notes for NDIS Driver 2
----------------------------------------

        When using PC-NFS concurrently with LAN Manager, select the
        NDIS option from the PC-NFS installation screen. This option
        works with the NDIS driver included in the provided driver
        diskette. Copy the files listed below into the \NFS directory
        of your hard disk.These files will be used in the installation.

        To use the NDIS driver, the user needs to obtain a PC-NFS 5.0
        QUIKNDIS diskette which will install all but the IC-Card+ driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
