This driver is compatible with LSI 1020/1030 SCSI controllers and is intended for use with Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server and Datacenter Server.

Since the 1020/1030 BIOS/FW is delivered as part of the System BIOS, it is highly recommended that you have the latest available System BIOS (also available from Dell support) already installed on your system before updating this driver.

Installation Instructions:
==========================

Download - Download the file to a known directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self extracting executable.

1) Click the "Download Now" link to download the file.

2) If the Export Compliance Disclaimer window appears, click the "I agree" link to accept the agreement.

3) When the File Download window appears, click "Save" to save the file to a known location on your hard drive.

Floppy Creation - the downloaded self-extracting file creates a Windows 2000 driver diskette for the LSI Logic SCSI controllers. You will need a formatted 3 - 1/2 inch 1.44 MB floppy diskette for the following procedure.

1) Browse to the directory where you downloaded the file.

2) Double click on the file to run the executable.

3) Specify the location to unzip the files.

4) Select the 'Unzip' button to extract files to the floppy.


Installing driver update on an existing Windows 2000 Server (*NOTE* In order for the update utility to function properly, all install files will have to be copied to a hard drive on the system being upgraded):

1) Close all applications before running this install.

2) Create a directory on the hard drive that you will be able to locate easily.

3) Copy all files from this diskette into the directory created in step 2.

4) Browse to the directory where you copied the files.

5) Run the 'FDU Service.exe' program to begin update *NOTE: If this update utility has been previously used on the system being upgraded, you may see a dialog asking you if you want to remove the application. If so, select 'OK' and then run the 'FDU Service.exe' program again to begin the update.

6) A welcome dialog will appear. Select 'Next' to continue.

7) The Licensing Agreement will appear. Read the agreement and select 'Yes' to agree and continue.

8) A dialog will appear asking you to indicate a desired install folder for installation of the service. In most cases, the default location should be used. If you desire a different location type it on or browse to it. Once the correct path is displayed, select 'Next' to continue.

9) Following update completion, a dialog will appear indicating that the update is complete. Ensure that the 'Reboot System' box is checked, and then select 'Finish'.

10) System will automatically reboot (there may be a slight delay before reboot begins). When the OS Splash Screen displays, do not log in. Wait for system to automatically reboot a second time before logging in.

11) Driver update should be complete.


Installing driver as part of a New Windows 2000 Operating System installation:

1) Boot the system using the Windows 2000 CD. As the message "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver" appears, press 'F6' immediately.

2) Within a few minutes, a  screen  appears  that  asks  for additional adapters in the system. Choose 'S' to specify a driver.

3) You are prompted for the driver diskette. Insert the  LSI Logic Windows 2000 SCSI driver diskette created above and press 'Enter'.

4) "Dell PERC 4/im | LSI Logic 1020/1030 Driver (Windows 2000)" appears in the middle of the screen. Press 'Enter' to load the driver.

5) Press 'Enter' again to continue OS installation process as usual.


Adding the LSI Logic SCSI Driver to an Existing Windows 2000 Server (non-upgrade) - *NOTE* This will only apply if the SCSI controller was previously disabled in system BIOS setup, and you have enabled it for the first time - otherwise, follow the update instructions above:

1) Boot the system to Windows 2000. The 'Found New Hardware' Wizard displays.

2) Select 'Search for a suitable driver' and select 'Next' to continue.

3) Select 'Floppy disk drive', insert the LSI Logic Windows 2000 SCSI driver diskette created above and select 'Next' to continue.

4) Highlight "LSI Logic 1020/1030 Ultra320 SCSI Adapter" from the list displayed and then select 'Next'.

5) The 'Found New Hardware' Wizard screen appears once for each SCSI channel present. Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each time the wizard pops up to complete the installation of the controller.

6) To confirm driver installation, right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. Select 'Device Manager', then select 'SCSI and RAID controllers' to see the newly added LSI Logic SCSI controller(s) in the list.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
