The driver included in this kit fixes the yellow bangs in Device manager associated with some the of Dell PowerEdge Server backplanes. The yellow bang relate to some of the messages below in Device Manager for which the W2K native backplane inf has no support:


Dell 1x8 U2W SCSI BP SCSI Processor Device
Dell 2x2 U2W SCSI BP SCSI Processor Device
Dell 1x12 U2W SCSI BP SCSI Processor Device
Dell 2x4 U2W scsi BP scsi Processor Device
Dell 1x5 U2W scsi BP scsi Processor Device
and others.



To install the new driver, follow the steps below:

1- Right click on "My Computer" icon and select "Manage"
2- Click on Device manager
3- Expand the "Unknown Device" applet to surface the backplane driver
4- Right click on the backplane driver and select "uninstall"
5- Once the uninstall has taken place, click on the top/left "Action" applet and select            "Scan for Hardware changes"
6- Wndows 2000 will re-detect the backplane and ask for a driver
7- At this time insert the floppy containing the backplane inf file and select to install            from disk.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
