The PCTEL MDC NT4 driver can unattend install if the distribution server is configured properly. In order to setup the PCTEL MDC NT4 Driver, the distribution server should be configured as follows: Note: In this configuration, the distribution files are contained within a subdirectory labeled "I386". The "I386" directory is a subdirectory of <Distribution Directory> off the main drive letter tree. The main distribution directory is shared. When the target system is started and logs into the network, the main distribution directory is mapped to a drive letter on the target system. After the mapping, the target system is changed to the mapped drive letter and then a "CD I386" command is issued. The installation process is then initiated Example section from autoexec.bat of the target system startup disk. a:\net initialize a:\net start net use z: <\\servername\<distribution> directory> lock c: z: cd i386 winnt /u:unattend.txt /s:z:\i386 The driver files must be placed on the distribution server in order for them to be copied to the correct locations on the target system. The following file must be copied from the \Unattend folder Mdmchipv.inf and needs to be placed in "<X>:\<Distribution Directory>\I386\$OEM$\$$\INF" where "X" is the server drive letter containing the distribution files. The following files must be copied from the \Unattend folder and placed in "<X>:\<Distribution Directory>\I386\$OEM$\$$\System32" Mdmchipv.cat Ntpower.exe pctspk.exe Pthsp.dat Ptsetup.dll The following files must be copied from the \Unattend folder and placed in "<X>:\<Distribution Directory>\I386\$OEM$\$$\System32\Drivers" ptserial.sys vmodem.sys vpctcom.sys vvoice.sys The Oemsetup.inf and a copy of Mdmchipv.inf (from the \Unattend folder) can be placed in "<X>:\<Distribution Directory>\I386\Drvlib.nic\Modem" The Oemsetup.inf creates the virtual com port which the main modem driver binds to in order to operate. In order for RAS services to install the main modem driver, the virtual com port driver must be loaded first. This is done by including the path to the Oemsetup.inf in the SelectedAdaptersSection and having it point to Com-2 as shown here: [SelectedAdaptersSection] ;This path must be Explicit!!!!!! com-2=OEMCardParameters, C:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\Drvlib.nic\Modem\ In the distribution server this path can be adjusted as desired. However, the path in the unattend.txt file must be explicitly defined as outlined by the section samples for an unattend.txt. Example Section from Unattend.txt file ;Start unattend.txt example [RASParamSection] [DialoutSection] PortName = COM2 DeviceType = Modem PortUsage = DialOut [Modem] InstallModem = ModemParameters [ModemParameters] COM2 = "PCTEL 2304WT V.92 MDC Modem" [RasParameters] PortSections = DialoutSection DialoutProtocols = TCP/IP [Network] JoinWorkgroup = Workgroup InstallAdapters = SelectedAdaptersSection InstallProtocols = ProtocolsSection InstallServices = ServicesSection [SelectedAdaptersSection] ;This path must be Explicit!!!!!! com-2=OEMCardParameters, C:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\Drvlib.nic\Modem\ [ProtocolsSection] TC = TCParamSection [NetBeuiParameters] [IPXParameters] [TcpipParameters] [TCParamSection] DHCP = yes [NWLNKIPXParamSection] [DLCParameters] [RASPPTPParameters] [STREAMSParameters] [ServicesSection] RAS=RASParameters ;End unattend.txt example For more assitance on NT4 Unattend Installs visit: <http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/ntwrkstn/deploy/depopt/ntinstal.asp>Download Driver Pack
