It supersedes any corresponding information in the printed or online documentation included with your Diva adapter. 2) Initializing a COM Port ======================================================================== If you installed a virtual ISDN COM port, you must use AT commands to configure the port before you can use it. You configure the port in the 16-bit application that uses the port. Settings for a virtual (TAPI) modem (for example, the 'Eicon ISDN V.120 modem') are not used by the COM port. Example: If you cannot use the Eicon ISDN fax modem because your fax software works only on a COM port, and you want to specify your origination address (for example, 555-555-37), you must initialize your ISDN COM port with this command: AT&F13+iO55555537 (&F13 for FAX mode; +iO55555537 to identify your origination address). Note that the virtual COM port has a number of predefined factory settings for different ISDN protocols. For more information, see the Diva for Windows online help. If you use 16-bit non-TAPI applications through the virtual COM port, you usually must enter an 'AT' initialization string into the application. This ensures that the port is set up correctly. For example, AT&F3 sets V.110 Rate Adaptation. Common settings include: AT&F3 V.110 AT&F5 Analog Modem (Diva Pro, Diva Pro 2.0, Diva Pro PC Card only) AT&F6 V.120 AT&F13 Group 3 Fax (Cards with DSPs only) Some services require you to specify the call type. You can set the call type using the AT+iSx/y command. NOTE: For descriptions of the supported AT commands, see the Diva for Windows online help. 3) Known problems ======================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Diva Client for Windows (all versions) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Installing the adapter ---------------------- You cannot have more than one Diva adapter installed on the same computer. Installing non-English versions ------------------------------- The Diva Tools and Diva Assistant are automatically installed in the language configured in the Windows Regional Settings. However, during the installation process, some buttons (Cancel, Yes, No) may be displayed in English. Multilink PPP ------------- You cannot use the Eicon ISDN Analog FaxModem in a Multilink PPP connection. Large file transfer ------------------- Using acopy2 to transfer a large file > 200MB, the connection will be dropped or the PC may hang. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Diva Client for Windows 98/Millennium Edition (Me) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Canceling an installation ------------------------- It is recommended that you do not cancel the installation process after it has started. Installing under Windows Me --------------------------- If you are running Windows Me, your computer may appear to stop responding for about 30 seconds after the drivers are installed while the newly installed modems are registered. The system will return to normal after this period. The same behavior may occur when you use the Setup Wizard to add or remove modems. Running UPDATE.BAT ------------------ When you run 'UPDATE.BAT', the message box that prompts you to restart your computer is displayed in English. The drivers will be installed in the language specified in the Windows Regional Settings. Plugging-in the adapter ----------------------- If you have a Diva USB adapter and plug it into a computer that is running, Windows may see it as an 'Unknown device'. If this occurs, simply unplug the adapter and plug it in again to allow for proper detection. Multiple subscriber numbers --------------------------- If you want an identical multiple subscriber number for Eicon Channel 0 and Eicon Channel 1, you must make one of the identical numbers appear to be different by adding a prefix to it (such as a regional code). Modem properties ---------------- For some modems, the 'Modem Properties' dialog box may indicate that no port is defined. This does not affect the operation of the modem and can be ignored. In the 'Modem Properties' dialog box, for some modems, if you select a port and click 'More Info', a "Cannot open port" message box is displayed. This does not affect the operation of the modem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Diva Client for Windows 2000/XP ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Windows 2000 File Protection ---------------------------- If you activate Windows 2000 File Protection after you install the Diva Client software, your computer may crash when it is restarted. Upgrade ------- If your Operating System automatically detects and installs your device, when you run Upgrade the device and Diva Tools are installed but the modems are not installed by default. Please refer to the User manual on how to install Modems. 1TR6 Protocol ------------- In this release, the 1TR6 protocol is not available under Windows 2000. Microsoft Fax ------------- If you use Microsoft Fax and your connection must dial 9 before the telephone number (to access an outside line), do not use a comma when you specify the phone number. For example, enter "95551234" not "9,5551234". If you need to insert a comma, use the Windows Dialing Rules. Multilink PPP ------------- If you have a Diva ISDN USB device and unplug it from your computer while a multilink connection is in effect, the Call Guard application and the Diva Tools icon (on the Windows system tray) may stop working. Removing modems --------------- If you have the X.75 56K modem and the X.75 64K modem installed, and you remove the X.75 64K modem, incorrect information about the X.75 56K modem may be displayed in the Windows 'Phone and Modem Options' dialog box. To correct the information, simply close and then reopen the 'Phone and Modem Options' dialog box. Multiple Subscriber numbers --------------------------- Configuring MSNs through the Windows 2000/XP provided applets has no effect. There is a workaround for the virtual modems because you can add AT commands to their initialization strings but there is no workaround for the WAN Miniport driver. Workaround: 1. Install the virtual modem of your choice 2. Navigate to the properties of the modem and click Properties > Connection > Advanced > Then add the following... at+ia123456 where 123456 is the MSN you want assigned to the virtual modem 3. The modem will now answer incoming calls to this number 4) Trademarks ======================================================================== Diva ISDN is a registered trademark, and Eicon and Diva are trademarks, of Eicon Networks Corporation.
