MT5634ZBA Release Notes
PN S00000015, Rev. A
9/30/99

These release notes are provided to assist in the installation process
for Windows environments and for environments other than Windows (such
as Unix, Novell NetWare, etc.). A directory tree is also provided to
help navigate the CD content, as well as a country-selection table and
a record of revisions.

For Windows environments:
A. Use the Multi-Tech Global Wizard for MT5634ZBA initial setup and
country configuration in Windows NT environments. This modem is not
approved in, or configured for operation in all countries, so it is
important to first check the MT5634ZBA initial setup and country
configuration in the Global Wizard program.
B. Use the Multi-Tech DOSFlash upgrade utility in a DOS window
environment.
C. Use the Multi-Tech NTFlash upgrade utility in Windows NT
environments.
D. Be sure to turn off Windows NT RAS service before flash upgrading
the MT5634ZBA.
E. For Windows systems with autorun disabled, run the program
AUTORUN.EXE from the root directory of the CD-ROM to begin installation.

For non-Windows environments:
A. To configure for a specific country, execute the appropriate AT
commands in a terminal window (refer to the Country Code Configuration
section later in this document). This modem is not approved in, or
configured for operation in all countries, so it is important to first
check the MT5634ZBA initial setup and country configuration.
B. To upgrade using DOSFlash, use the DOSFLASH.EXE application
located in the DOSFLASH directory on the CD-ROM.
C. For installation in a Novell Netware environment, use the MDC
(Modem Definition Compiled) file in the NOVELL directory on the
CD-ROM. For further information refer to the README.TXT file in that
directory.

Configuring the Modem for Your Country

Different countries have different requirements for how modems must
function. Therefore, before you use the modem, you must configure it to
match the defaults of the country in which you are using it. You can use
one of two configuration methods: the Global Wizard Configuration Utility
or by entering AT commands from a terminal window.

Global Wizard Configuration Utility. This configuration utility is
recommended for computers running Windows 95 and 98, Windows NT 3.51
and 4.0, and Windows 2000. Using Global Wizard, you can configure your
modem for a specific country with just a few mouse clicks. Refer to the
User Guide on your CD for additional information.

AT Commands. If you are comfortable using AT commands, or wish to
fine-tune the operation of your modem, you can do this using firmware-based
AT commands and S-Registers. You must enter these commands in your
communication program's terminal window and must have a broad
understanding of the impact reconfiguring AT commands will have on your
application.

Country Code Configuration using AT Commands

To configure for a specific country, execute the following AT commands:

	AT%T19,0,country_code in HEX
	AT&F&W

Verify with the ATI9 command (which displays the country_code in Decimal)
that the right country has been configured.

Country To change country	To verify country (type ATI9)
---------	-----------------	--------------------------
Euro/NAM	AT%T19,0,34 (default)	52
Japan AT%T19,0,10 16

Euro/NAM countries: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland,
France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg,
Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
United Kingdom, and United States.
